Pros: Makes a relatively fast batch of dense ice cream. Cons: Cheap parts; breaks easily.
After our 30 year old Rival 6 qt ice cream maker bit the proverbial dust last year (2008) and right in the middle of making a batch of ice cream no less, I rushed out to my local Target to buy a replacement. I picked the Hamilton Beach ...

Pros: Homemade ice cream is sooo good . . . performs well Cons: Noisy
We purchased the Hamilton Beach ice cream maker this summer and have already used it about four times. It has performed as expected. We wanted to buy a four quart electric model and this fit our needs. Previously, we have owned one or two Rival four ...

Works well but poor quality parts
by dayflowr ,Sep 17 '06
Pros: Makes good ice cream Cons: Poor quality
Makes good ice cream, but after using it 5 times, I noticed tiny cracks forming in the lid. With subsequent uses, they have become worse. If you are going to be using you ice cream maker often, don't buy this one.

Makes a great tasting load of ice cream
by markd97 ,May 29 '06
Pros: Easy to use, clean, stops automatically, makes 4 qts! Cons: a bit noisy, but not bad
While a bit noisy, for $18.00 at Target, you have to love how easy, fun and large this ice cream maker is. The motor stops automatically when the ice cream is finished in about 20 minutes, allowing me to do other things while it whirls away creating amazing ice cream. I suggest using 2/3 rd's the sugar recommended in the recipe book. For making family quantities of ice cream without spending much money, Hamilton Beach has designed the ideal system.

Ice Cream Maker
by nfahle ,Jul 13 '06
Pros: ease of use, cleanup, assembly. Cons: noisy. can't leave it unattended.
First time ever made a batch of ice cream and used this product. It was easy to use and a snap to clean up. I would recommended it to anyone. Could even use at a campground or party...if you have you batch of ice cream ready to put in the maker.

anyone happy after the first few batches?
by carrieediger ,Aug 03 '06
Pros: works beautifully- when it works Cons: The motor failed after about 3 uses
This machine worked beautifully for the first 3 batches of ice cream- and now the motor jams at even the slightest resistance- I just tried running the thing EMPTY and the motor jammed. I may try to return it- if I can find the paperwork.

Runny Ice Cream
by gcorsino ,Jul 04 '09
Pros: It doesn't require rock salt or ice Cons: Noisy
I followed the instructions and I've made 5 batches of milkshakes. After 40 minutes plus.. it's still not turning into ice cream. To complete the process I've had to put the tub back into the freezer. Is anyone else having the same problem? I'm ready to take it back to the store where I purchased it...
