Pros: Lush R&B and Hip-Hop arrangements make this a surprisingly exuberant Club/Dance CD Cons: Some tracks are filler tripe: Spanish Lesson, Voices, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
When Madonna rocks a crotch shot in leather Depends (cameltoe prudently airbrushed away) for the cover of her 11th studio album, Hard Candy, you have to pause for a second and wonder if she's in on the joke. Not that she's too old to pull it off ...
Pros: "Miles Away" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognise You" are okay. Cons: Mind-numbingly dull beats and melodies without any hint of fun or spark.
Since 2008 seems to be the year of pop diva albums, its both inevitable and fitting that Madonna the biggest female artist of all time would return with another patented commercial smash/artistic disaster. Launched in a manner ...
Pros: Great songs, makes you want to dance, great production values Cons: Timberlake and Timbaland were not the best choice for producers
I have been a Madonna fan for many years now. With baited breath I anticipate each and every album she releases. She has had countless hit songs, albums, tours, ect...So I was a little nervous when I heard the first single from her eleventh ...
Pros: I like a handful of these songs! WOW!! Cons: A few *really obnoxious* songs obliterate some of that goodness
(Disclaimer: Those looking for a brief description of the album will find what their looking for in the "Review Body" section. The section titled "Track Reviews" is meant only for those who want to read detailed descriptions of the songs, and ...
Pros: The Timbaland/Timberlake team goes 4-for-5 here, turning out to be pretty sympathetic collaborators. Cons: Pharrell Williams? Another story entirely.
Hard Candy might as well be called "Madonna's Victory Lap". After suffering the sting of 2003's flop album American Life (the first failure of her career), she rebounded with the retro-disco of 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor, a ...
Pros: Madonna can still fabricate a good single. Cons: Its Madonna in 2008, with Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, and Timbaland. Her new "Posse".
Once upon a time, in a land not too far away, one could use the words “Madonna” and “Trendsetter” in the same sentence and not have the taste slapped out of their mouth. To be so loose lipped with such words today, ...
Pros: Timbaland's beat contributions here are generally good, if not up to his best recent stuff. Cons: Pharrell's beats are mostly flat, Madonna herself isn't a huge draw here.
Best way to get Trey to check out an album from an artist he normally wouldn't care about: Get Timbaland and/or The Neptunes to do the beats. As much as I generally like both Timbo and the 'Tunes's work, they hadn't been exactly operating at full ...
Pros: Some good production, Madonna occasionally gives a nice vocal Cons: A lot of generic moments, the producers are the highlight, several songs are pointless.
Madonna released her eleventh studio album Hard Candy on Tuesday. I wasnt sure what to expect. Madonna has always been the mother of reinvention, changing her image and blazing her own trail. This time out it appeared she was going to do ...
Pros: Some great melodies and hooks, and no preachy lyrics about religion or fame Cons: Some dodgy lyrics and album filler
Madonna had some critics and fans scared. Rumors were swirling around she was hiring the biggest guns in R-N-B like Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and the Neptunes to score a very calculated "American Comeback". People were screaming "sell out" (of course ...
Pros: 4 Minutes, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You Cons: Overproduced and under-Madonna'd.
Got a chance to listen to Hard Candy end to end last night. 4 Minutes will be the biggest hit off it and there are three or four other tracks including the title track that are potential hits with memorable melodies and big pop feel, but none of those ...
Pros: Ummm...it's Madonna....that should be enough Cons: not too deep lyrically like her other albums, but that wasn't really the point
Okay so if you read any of my previous entries under my first incarnation at Epinions (as kyle316) you already know I can be, shall we say?, biased toward Madonna(but with good reason, she is only the most influential woman in the history of music, no ...
Oh, people love to hate on Madonna, but a great many also love her enough to keep her around all these years. Hard Candy is Madonna’s return – what Confessions on a Dancefloor was said to be – to her roots in dance music. In fact, this ...
Pros: Catchy, contemporary, dancefloor magic. Cons: Same well-worn musical formula.
Madonna's eleventh studio album, the saucily titled 'Hard Candy', is a fusion of hip-hop mixes and the same tried and true formula of sex and suggestion that have kept her at the top of the heap of modern performers. The album cover, featuring M in full ...
Pros: Candy shop, She's Not Me Cons: Spanish Lesson, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
This is the newest album from Madonna. This album is closer to her old stuff then her last few have been. There are several songs on here that find you singing in the car. There are also songs that make you wonder what she was thinking, such as Spanish Lesson. I think this album is better then American Life but not as great as Confessions on a dance floor.
As a dancer, would say this album has good material, without getting to technical about the album and who produces it. It definitely evokes feelings of just wanting to dance and let go and party, without thinking to much:)
Madonna kicks off her eleventh album with the deep funk and electro-pulses of Candy Shop -- an innuendo-laden ( my sugar is raw ) R&B song that gives ...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
