Pros: Great sound, lots of ins and outs, sinfully easy sound balancing Cons: No component video ins/outs
I've had the HK AVR 220 for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it. Here's how it stacks up against the other receivers I was considering purchasing:
1. Full use of all speakers: Many of the cheaper home theater receivers only use the...
Pros: Warm, rich tones at a reasonable price. Cons: No A/B switching.
This review is a little 'late' - the receiver has been replaced by 2 subsequent models now. Nonetheless, I think it's such a great unit, it's worth reviewing if you can pick it up used or at an 'end-of-the-line' kind of store. I won't spend too much ...
Pros: Excellent digital decoder with additional modes that augment and complement the requisite Dolby Digital. Cons: Low power output rating and a supposed reliability problem reported in a few reviews.
This receiver replaced my dated Sony 100 watt stereo amp and separate tuner. Needless to say, the upgrade also included a digital coax cable and a pair of surround speakers.
Basically, it does a much better job on the digital decode than my...
Pros: Great sound. Durable. Tons of surround options. Cons: The OSD (On Screen display) is hard to use without monitor.
I got this at a good price at Fry's - $280. I didn't want to go with brands like Sony/Kenwood because they specify the 'max' power they support. They make no statements about the RMS (Root Mean Square Power) which leads you to wonder how much power they...
Pros: Great sound. Surround setting PER INPUT. digital input PER INPUT. plenty of power. Cons: no automatic surround setting. no automatic digital input. very small display/scrolling on-screen-display (OSD)
There is no question that the sound quality on this unit is stellar. HK is known for their quality products, although their manufacture in Asia may indicate declining overall quality.
In my opinion the best features of this unit are the...
Pros: High quality, Sound Quality, Surround options, EZ set up for speaker levels and Price Cons: None as of yet
Hello, bought this receiver 3 days ago and let me tell you what a Great Receiver! The price was right also. This is my seconds Harman Kardon receiver my first was the Harman Kardon AV20. Now don’t get me wrong there was nothing wrong with it just...
Second Harman Kardon Receiver by tlb7263 ,Apr 24 '04
Pros: sturdy construction, powerful & clean amplification, elegant design Cons: doesn't have 6.1 or 7.1 decoding, if that is a con.
My first introduction to Harman Kardon Audio Video Receivers was an AVR35 Dolby Pro-Logic receiver. I was hooked. It had more headroom and less distortion than other receivers I have owned with much higher power ratings. The AVR 220 is a great receiver. Sure it doesn't have 6.1 or 7.1 deccoding, but I don't have the room for all those speakers. This receiver coupled with my Infinity HTS-20 speaker package and Velodyne CHT-12 powered sub-woofer give me the feel of a true theater experience. This is an excellent product and I purchased it off the harmanaudio website (www.harmanaudio.com)} for under $250.00. If you must have all the newer decodings in your receiver (Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES) do yourself a favor and opt for the newer Haman Kardon AVR models. Harman Kardon has made a believer out of me and everyone who experiences my home theater system.
