The perfect receiver for a medium-sized Home Theater

by rfman Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 09 '03
Pros: Good build quality, great sound, many inputs
Cons: No component video pass-through, complex remote, low power rating
Harmon/Kardon is a brand that I consider to be in the upper levels of consumer electronics. In terms of amplifiers and receivers, it’s not up to the level of Mark Levinson or Carver, but a Harman/Kardon is a step above your typical Kenwood or...

Great sound and lots of features

by YODA_6 , Nov 18 '04
Pros: Good sound replication, attractive looking, versatile, generally inexpensive.
Cons: Power is a little lacking. Difficult remote
I have now owned this receiver for almost two full years. It replaced a Sony stereo receiver that quit on me right after the warranty ran out. The Harman-Kardon has served me quite well these past two year. Although it doesn't have as much power as ...

A great "mid weight" pro !

by bige67 , Jan 12 '03
Pros: Power ! User friendly. Great sound. Plenty of In's and Out's. Massive.
Cons: Tricky remote. Bad rep on AVR110's. No Speaker A/B. Loose feeling volume ctrl.
At first I was looking for a Home Theater in a box. Then I understood that I could get an A/V Receiver with better speakers for abit more. Finally, I found a pair of beautiful speakers, The Wharfedales 8.4's with a "8.center" unit.(I will put a review on...

AVR 125 best for starving audiophiles

by james318 , Dec 23 '07
Pros: clarity, ease of use, spdif digital audio connections, THD .07%
Cons: big? too many unnecessary lights?
I bought the AVR 125 used for $110 from my local area craigslist and I have to say it was the deal of the century. My old sony unit (which had higher wattage ratings) crapped out on me, so i replaced it with this unit using the same sony speakers. The ...

great 5.1 receiver
by ionjohnny ,Feb 01 '04
Pros: Top notch sound quality, attractive styling
Cons: None.
The great thing about h/k is you can get the same great sound from their base model that you can from their upper tier.

The thd on this thing is an immaculate less than 0.07% !!!

It's hard to find anything lower. what that means is that you get crystal clear sound with no distortion no matter how high you crank it. Don't let its low wattage fool you, h/k makes highly efficient discreet circuitry amplifiers, it doesn't need a lot of power to provide exceptional sound quality. Another thing that gives Harmon Kardon its edge is its physical beauty. In a land of big black hulking monstrosities, its brushed aluminum finish and pretty blue lights are a welcome relief.

Overall by combining aesthetic design with superior sound quality, Harmon Kardon provides a top of the line receiver at a reasonable price.
