Pros: Maximum sun protection for baby's tender skin; waterproof with pleasant fragrance. Cons: Sometimes difficult to apply evenly to a wriggling 12 month old.
Just a few days ago, my family returned from a one week vacation spent in Daytona Beach, Florida. While preparing for our trip, I was in search of a sunscreen that would adequately protect the tender, fair skin of my 12 month old son, Tristan. It seems...
Pros: not greasy or clumpy, great for the little ones Cons: none
I have been a user of Hawaiian Tropic® products for as long as I can remember. When my girls were coming up there were not many sun protected products on the market. Of course that was over 20 years ago too. But today the choices are much better and...
Pros: Actually protected me from sunburn. Cons: Product itself burns like a #%@!
Some friends of mine swear by this stuff, but every time I see them put it on their kids, the rug rats scream their heads off! But, I figured I scream and fight, too, if someone four times my size was smearing gooey stuff all over my face when I wanted ...
Pros: high SPF, non-greasy, moisturizing, easy to use, pleasant smell, price Cons: no indication of expiry date
I have a skin condition which requires 24 hour sun protection. We also spend a lot of time outdoors gardening and boating so we really need dependable sun protection. What I wanted: I use an expensive sunblock that I buy through my ...
Pros: It comes in a pink bottle. Cons: It doesn't protect the skin. It's irritating to both the skin and the eyes.
This past winter my daughter suffered an ice burn from a sledding accident. The most important instruction we were given for her future skin care was to make sure she wears sunscreen at all times for the next couple of years. Because she lost the first ...
Pros: Large bottle, UVA and UVB protection, SPF 50 Cons: a little more expensive, but completely worth the quality!
Even though this product is named for baby’s usage, it also works wonders for those with fair and sun-sensitive skin!! Being fair skinned, I have always been extremely sun-sensitive. As I got older, and one sun poisoning later, I even began to get...
Does the job, but greasy! by twobabygirls ,May 10 '04
Pros: GREAT SUN PROTECTION Cons: GREASY
I really like this sunscreen. It does really well at protecting my little blonde headed blue eyed babies, but it sure is greasy. My poor girls look like they've been greased down for a pig wrestling contest! And the sand really sticks to their arms and legs. Plus being so fair haired (almost white!) I have to put it where their hair parts, and even after shampooing....I can still smell the sunscreen afterwards! All in all, it may be worth it. I would rather have some greased up kiddos...than little sunburned babies!
Pros: Pump Bottle Cons: Burning, stinging sensation on entire face!
We recently moved our family to Maui. Our lifestyle even before living on an island involved much time on and near the ocean. We ALWAYS have a variety of sunblock lotions, sticks or sprays on hand. We found the Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces 50+ with the pump and we were stoked! Several times my 6 year old daughter complained about her face and eyes burning and we did not figure out what was going on until my husband, a surfer for 30+ years, used it on his face and he experienced a burning sensation on his entire face for HOURS!!! It is not just the sunblock running into eyes as one sweats, the burning sensation began as they put it on their face. We have friends that used Hawaiian Tropic Faces 30 SPF and they had the same burning sensation. I have tossed the entire bottle. I will NOT subject my family to a chance of the irritation again. I would caution anyone using it at all, especially on small children.
