Pros: maximize connection with weak signals Cons: bulky, very poor customer service, unreliable software/drivers
I mainly bought this USB adapter for one reason, increase range and performance of my laptop. I have no problems at home however when I'm traveling and need to find an unsecured network, problems arise. Ive had the adapter for over 5 weeks now so ...

Pros: Brilliant little device - excellent signal. Cons: Dreadful customer support and less than useless software supplied.
I bought this device recently in the UK, and spent a week trying to get it to connect. The signal in one room of my home was almost non-existent, and I was looking round to purchase some type of signal booster, as I did not want ethernet cables installed ...

Works Very Well
by dave247 ,Sep 23 '07
Pros: Excellent signal booster and it looks cooler than most antennas. Cons: Could have a longer USB cord.
I used this to increase the range of my D-link 524 G router. I have a matching D-Link PCI Wireless G card that is hooked up in another room about 30 feet away. With the built in antenna on the PCI card I was getting 25 percent signal at best. When I hooked up the HWU8DD it kicked that percentage up to 75 percent and enabled me to get most of the bandwidth my cable modem has to offer. I have also used this out on the road with my Dell Inspiron 1150 notebook and it has let me surf on hotspots that I would not have a prayer of reaching with the built in notebook adapter.

Hawkings Technology High Gain USB Wireless-G Adapter
by mickspace ,Jul 09 '08
Pros: It seems to work well so far. Small portable Cons: Bad software, Easy to break.
I received this product with all software in a nice little box. As with most New Products, I installed the software before I plugged it in (something people seem to miss?)...Installed without a problem.
This does gain signal, I found the Software is not so great, and my modified Desktop Edimax PCI Wireless works just as well? (I drilled a hole in a metal bowl, making a dish, then placed antenna inside this and pointed to my router)
I did pick up a few signals I havent seen before, and it is small and your are able to easily point this in the desired direction of signal.
I could not get it to connect using the software so I used the Windows Zero Configuration (using Win XP) to connect and it worked fine. I havent used it in traveling yet (which is why I bought this, some hotels off free wifi if you can get the signal)...

Works fantastic, worth every penny
by wadiohead ,Feb 23 '06
Pros: Great connection. Cons: Wish the cord were a foot longer. Has a non-standard USB cord.
Went from terrible connection with constant dropping in an old brownstone with the router across the house to 80% link quality and 60% strength. Couldn't be happier.
