Pros: Big capacity carts, reliable compatible, silent mode, memory reprint and send receipt Cons: Lack of paper tray for output and faxed documents, small paper capacity, slow printing
HP Fax 1010 is no longer made, but you can find its cousins, the 1040 and such on the shelves, with minimal differences. I actually have a 1010, and a 1020, both have served me very well. Why HP? I know HP ink carts are plentiful and refills are ...

Does the job, but you get what you pay for...
by tamster130 ,May 04 '06
Pros: Cost, reliable performance Cons: No paper tray for incoming faxes or copies, copy quality
I actually bought a refurbished model through Buy.com so the price was very low- about $35. I only do a minimal amount of faxing and copying, but it got too expensive running down to the grocery store every time I needed to fax or make a quick copy.
So far the machine has been very reliable- no MAJOR problems. The copy quality is not the greatest, and I did have trouble a couple times when I tried to fax too many pages at one time. It tried pulling in a couple pages at one time, but for my needs limiting my faxing to just a few pages at a time is no big deal. My only real complaint is that it does not have any sort of tray to catch the pages it runs through, or the incoming faxes. My desk is not always the tidiest, so that causes some problems sometimes.
I would not recommend this machine for heavy duty use or if you need crisp copy quality, but for light home use it does the job just fine.

HP FAX 1010 Not Reliable
by saturnpc ,Dec 12 '06
Pros: Copy option. Cons: Slow, little options, not reliable, crash to many time in a day, printing quality.
I've been working with this fax for almost 2 years, since the first day all have been problems. Slow printing to low quality copies.
It all started when we replaced a Toshiba Thermal Fax that complete its mission. The OfficeMax employee sold this FAX as the best machine at its time, that was not.
Any ways we took this system, it sends fax OK, it copies OK, but at the time of receiving a fax it crash in the printing process or even sometimes it does not receive at all it just reads "Receiving" but it is really stuck.
All that process during a receive of a customer Purchase order or other important documentation; which is a big hassle for business.
The other thing is that every day we need to restart the system which is very tedious and annoying.
I would not Recommend this product.
