    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Great text and color graphic printing, network ready
    Cons: none

Summary: The old inkjet printer that we gave my son so he could print his school work finally bit the dust and we were looking for a replacement. We were at our local CompUSA and they had a large selection of inkjet printers to chose from. After looking at ... read more

  • I hate this printer.

    Oct 28, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: The print quality is really nice.
Cons: Eats all the paper products it can get hold of.  Has to calibrate continuously.

Summary: I chose the HP LaserJet 2600n printer because I needed an inexpensive and high-quality color printing option (with network support) for my office.  After researching many laser, phaser and ink jet models the 2600n seemed an obvious choice - ... read more

  • Second Time Buyer

    May 15, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Attractive machine, quiet, except when initializing or calibrating, decent speed, very professional printing results
Cons: Expensive toner, smallish paper tray, built-in toner waster that must be overridden

Summary: I bought this printer for home because I have one in my office at work for my personal use. At work, it has been very reliable and I find that the photos I print actually rival ink jet prints. I was disappointed at the rate it uses toner, but since I ... read more

  • HP2600n is horrible!

    Mar 26, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good color, size, and lack of noise.
Cons: No support, no service, no good. Turns each page gray.

Summary: Owned this printer for a year and a half. From the beginning if you printed a label from a sheet of labels, those you didn't use during this print job turned increasingly gray. Now, every white page of paper comes out gray. And HP wants $79 to allow a ... read more

  • Prints great but per page cost is too high

    Jan 24, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Small, compact, easy networking, good color laser quality
Cons: Small expensive cartridges mean high per page costs and more junk to recycle

Summary: I bought this printer 18 months ago because it was cute and small and I have been very happy with all aspects of this printer exception for one.: You guessed it, the cost of the toner cartridges. This printer is quiet, draws minimal power when not in ... read more

  • Great value for a personal or SOHO printer

    Dec 7, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: attractively priced, one-pass color printing, good print quality
Cons: manual duplex only, small paper tray

Summary: This printer is in use at one of my clients. An enterprising office manager, tired of ordering several different kinds of toner for several different types of printers, decided that she wanted to standardize their printers. They wanted a ... read more

  • Good entry-level color laser for SOHO use

    Sep 29, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Excellent for text, diagrams, flowcharts etc.
Cons: Consumables costly (like all color lasers). Not for heavy use. Manual feed problematic.

Summary: By way of introduction, here's my usage pattern, so you can compare your needs against mine before you read my comments: My wife is a middle school teacher, and she needs to print occasional prize certificates and color overheads. She works almost ... read more

  • Great results for price

    May 30, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Quality and speed. First page is out quickly. Networking has been flawless.
Cons: Printing envelopes can be a pain, print drive dialogs can be confusing.

Summary: Output quality is excellent. Very impressive results for the price. I wish I had purchased one sooner. It was up and running nicely very fast. The networking worked without any fuss. The stock paper tray is not particularly generous, so I wish I'd ... read more

  • Don't get it for your 100-person office, but for home....

    Apr 15, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: reliable, HP name, good print quality, easy to use
Cons: toner cartridge replacements = annual GDP of many small island nations

Summary: Our 2600n is our main printer, with a "backup" inkjet printer being our Canon Pixma all-in-one. While it might actually wind up being cheaper to print on the inkjet, I gotta admit that using the HP is not only clean and fast, it's just downright FUN. All ... read more

    Oct 10, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Fast print speed, Small footprint, Ethernet port, Excellent Web Sever Configuration
    Cons: None

Summary: This is truly an excellent HP Color LaserJet printer. The paper tray is small (250 sheets) but this printer was designed for HOME use. There is a $150.00 additional 250 sheet paper tray that attaches to the bottom. I have had this machine for a month now ... read more

  • Home Office, SECOND occasionally used printer, great buy

    Sep 1, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, easy to use, beautiful results.
Cons: HUUUUUUge, but can't see any other way to design it.

Summary: April 16, 2007 UPDATE: When the original toners (that came with the printer) were only 30% low, all the paper printed with a kind of "marbled" background. The manual indicated this is a sign the "toner is low," but 30% full is hardly low! Long story ... read more

  • Good printer for personal or small business - when it works!

    May 30, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good entry price, easy to install and use, fast and good printing for the cost.
Cons: Our experience: 2 of 3 printers have serious manufacturing defects, poor customer service.

Summary: I work in Marketing Communications and having a desktop color laser printer is a great time-saver. I recently burned up my old Magicolor 2300DL and it was time to get a new color laser. I chose the HP 2600N for several reasons. Mostly because of ... read more

  • HP 2600N - Engineered robbery

    May 23, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: Good quality prints
Cons: False empty toner messages rendering the printer non-functioning until the expensive cartridge is replaced

Summary: If you have read the reviews, chats, reports and such that HP's new smart chips embedded in consumables such as their toner cartridges will require you to replace the cartridges before they are empty, believe it! I read at least one report stating that ... read more

  • Not what I expected from HP

    May 9, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Worked for about five minutes
Cons: Self destructed in another five minutes

Summary: Well what can I say, I bought one of these yesterday and diligently followed the directions to hook it up. I selected the USB hookup. Everything went fairly well and all test prints were perfect. The first thing I noticed was how the paper discharge ... read more

  • Other Factors To Consider Before Buying HP2600n

    Mar 2, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Excellent print quality
Cons: HP color lasers in the $500 to $700 range do not have these disadvantages.

Summary: Even with the optional cartridge out override available from the front panel, this printer is not a heavy duty office type device. The reason has to do with the way printers are rated for number of print cycles per cartridge. All laser printers have ... read more

  • It's cheap for a reason.

    Feb 8, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: I didn't wait another day to return it.
Cons: Lousy photo printing, manual guides are loose, crippled Mac support and non-existent tech support.

Summary: To see an HP color laser for $299 and Mac compatible, I was totally excited. That's too bad because I got my hopes up and wound up stinging mad. The print quality of printing photos was horrible. Colors were washed out by 40%. Blacks were gray, ... read more

  • Great printer for the price

    Jan 18, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Network capable Inexpensive Comes with toner cartridges
    Cons: Slow

Summary: Printers have come a long way. A few years ago a networked printer would have cost over $1000 more than the non-networked version, and laser printers weren't cheap either. For $400 it was worth trying out. This product is probably a leader, so I would ... read more

  • Decent For Home Office But Need Patience

    Jan 15, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: price, design, network card included, excellant B&W print quality
Cons: software glitchy, some prints come out a bit hazed, expensive toners, bad toner meter system

Summary: The machine counter for how much toner is left is flawed because will reduce the number down regardless of which color is used. When the toner quantity meter reaches zero it says time to replace the toner, except there is still plenty of toner usually. ... read more

  • Poor photo quality right out of the box !

    Jan 13, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Fast printing, easy setup, available at Costco
Cons: Poor photo quality, memory issues, small paper tray, loud and long warmup, price per page

Summary: I chose the HP 2600n because I needed a color printer that would print faster than my current inkjet. The price was right ($299 at Costco); so, I decided to give this entry level color laser printer a try. For commercial real estate appraisal reports, ... read more

  • Not a bad deal!

    Dec 17, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Easy setup, quiet, and good printing quality.
Cons: Not many upgrades available, toner is a little pricey.

Summary: I read the other reviews and went to Best Buy with fear and trepidation. It's a good thing that I'm computer savvy because the display model wasn't plugged in, one of the shipping pieces was still in the paper drawer AND the yellow toner cartridge ... read more
