Pros: Inexpensive Widescreen, AMD Turion-powered, ATI Graphics, Altec Lansing Speakers, One-touch Wireless, Volume Control Buttons Cons: Bland Exterior Looks, Cheaply-Installed Optical Drive
Overview I am a freshman at Texas Lutheran University. I was tired of having to use the schools mediocre systems for schoolwork, if I could even get on one. I was in the market for my first computer. I have used many computers in the past, ...
Pros: Everything you need in a portable computer and nothing you don't Cons: Sends potential jobs and real dollars to China
This is a great portable notebook and at this time (09-28-2005) should be at the top of the list for travelers, speakers, and students who need a computer on the go. Its probably not the best choice for a desktop replacement (a machine ...
Pros: Stylish, portable, affordable, well placed and thought out features and construction Cons: Gets hot, bright view screen too reflective outdoors, needs customization/configuration to be optimal
I'm a self employed graphic designer but did not need a laptop for designing or gaming, just something that I could do web surfing, email, administrative tasks and a LOT of writing on. After a few months research, I settled on the following customized ...
Pros: Great screen, great size/weight overall, powerful, stylish, dirt cheap Cons: Poor wireless reception, speakers create a bad internal resonance in the 250-500 hz range
I ordered my V2000Z direct from the hpshopping website with a Sempron 3000+ processor, 512 megs RAM, Internal wireless and the Brightview screen option for a total cost of $599 ( plus tax, shipping was free). The machine was well built, stylish and very ...
Pros: Small and compact, customizable. Performance is adequate. Cons: It takes at least a few weeks to ship.
I ordered this notebook a few months ago from the hpshopping website with the AMD Sempron 2800, 512 MB ram, 60gb 5400 rpm disk, cdrw combo drive, brightview screen and standard 1 year warranty. These notebooks are custom built and shipped from China, so ...
Pros: Unbelievable Screen, size, form factor, keyboard, processor, CHOICES!!! Cons: XP Home is Standard, Upgrades are somewhat pricey
This is my third laptop and twelfth computer over all. So, obviously, I'm not a newbie. By trade, I'm a graphic artist and web designer. I'm always on the go... I needed a laptop that was light to carry, didn't overheat, small in size for maximum ...
Pros: Really nice screen.
Great looking case Very small, thin, and light Cons: The touch pad
The keyboard
The DVD tray seems a bit flimsy.
For basic and inexpensive laptop, this one fits the bill. I got it at Office Depot and with all the rebates it came to under $500 with tax and shipping with a AMD Turion 64 ML-28 CPU, 512mg ram, intergrated 802.11g, and DVD Reader (no writer). It also ...
Pros: Powerful, cheap, good screen, light weight Cons: Battery life could be better,
Load comes on DVD Drive Tray when lifted(same for L2000)
I was looking for Thin N Light laptop, to replace my previous Toshiba laptop. I do not want to spend too much but want one that is future proof for few years.
I considered Dell 600M, 700M, Averatec 4100 series, HP DV1000 series, V2000z. Weight around Pounds.
I liked the screen of DV1000 and V2000z much better than all others. Though Dell 700M screen is good,it is too small only 12.1. Averatec is expensive and comes with SiS chipset vs ATI in V2000z. After typical configuration V2000z turned out to be cheaper than all other models. After reading several reviews and comparision I settled for this one.
I took ML-37 Processor, 14" BrightView, Productivity ports.
After 2 months of use, I really liked it. Battery life is close to 3:00 hours.
This is light( weighing only 5.3 pounds), good screen, good keyboard, much better integrated graphics( much more powerful than Intel integrated) with Directx9 support whichi is required for Vista. With 64Bit OS support, it is future proof for some time(Many people installed 64Bit linux on these laptops).
All-in all best value in this class of note books.
Quaility laptop with style by lunchbox2212 ,Dec 17 '08
Pros: Speed, size, looks. Cons: I'm pretty sure my PCI slot and my SD slot dont work anymore!
I have the Turion ML-37 with 1gb of ram. But the video card takes some, so my specs are 1.99 GHz with 896 ram! I got this Laptop right after I graduated High School with my graduation money. That was the summer of 2006, so it has a few years on it right now.
I've taken very good care of it, its only physical flaws are that the silver on the Altec Lansing speakers have half way worn away. And I believe the PCI and SD slots are the only external problems that i have, along with the firewire not working after about an hour of use or so. I guess it just gets hot, I dont know. Also my battery power has slowly went down and is now at about 45 min to an hour!
All in all it has treated me great, I run recording programs and Photoshop all day, and it is still standing strong.
Pros: Stylish, light, Turion processor for under 1000, COMPLETELY silent Cons: Exterior easily gets smudged, volume control in buttons not knobs, speed of hard drive
Not content with the hours of the computer labs at my college, I decided to buy a laptop. The V2000z hardly ever leaves my side now; I am completely satisfied with it. Having researched the market by checking out all the manufacturer's deals online, refurbished computers, and actual stores (i.e. Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, CompUSA), the V2000z was the best deal for around $800.
