I have owned Epson and Canon printers and new had any problems.  They were older so I decided to upgrade.  I thought HP would be a good choice.  This unit has been nothing but trouble.  It is never reliable to scan or print.  Many times I just get garbage at the top of each page and it will continue to print this unless I shut it down.  The scanner no longer works and just has error messages.  I have not even owned for 6 months.  HP - never again!
