Pros: Nice ergonomics, webcam, mic, 2G memory. Cons: Model has inherent defects -- very poor internet connectivity. Avoid at all costs.
I bought an HP dv6449us at Circuit City at an incredible price. It had every feature I was looking for in a laptop and had the 2G of RAM is was looking for. Unfortunately, my experience with this computer turned out to be a nightmare. I could not ...
Pros: Sleek styling, great memory, good graphics Cons: Sleek styling, great memory and graphics are wasted if the computer won't work
After purchasing a "great deal" on an Acer and having it crash on us several times over a period of two days, we decided to exchange it for a highly touted HP computer. Based on price and staff recommendations, we settled on the HP dv6449us. The ...
Pros: Wickedly fast and perfect for both the first time laptop owner or the experienced. Cons: I have not found a single problem in the 3 weeks I have owned it.
This spiffy little notebook (it only weighs 6.8 lbs) meets every need we have in a laptop. The dual processors generate speed you may never have expected in a product at this price point. And the 15.4" Widescreen gives a brilliantly sharp and clear ...
Pros: Laptop has what I need and more. Cons: None Yet. Speed what I expected even with 2GB Mem and dual Processor
I purchased at Circuit City. Needed something fast and they had it is stock. I didn't have the issues with the network I read about - though I did not read reviews un til after I purchased it. Good thing because I would have missed out. I don't know ...
More Wireless Network problems by knerrd ,Aug 30 '07
Pros: price, looks, great value (or so it seemed) Cons: wireless connection non-existent, slow start up,
I am having exactly the same problems as one of the other reviewers. I so wanted this laptop to work because it's a great value and it looks good, too. But, it wouldn't connect to my wireless home network. It would see the network, but wouldn't connect. Customer support was no help, either.
It also is somewhat slow starting up. I don't know whether this is just because Vista is a monster or because the AMD processor is slower.
Pros: Price was great. Had n-connectivity. Cons: Could not connect to the internet!
I too, like other reviewers had connection problems with our wireless network at home. I had to return a Toshiba because of a defective screen to Circuit City. They were out of that model, so they let me buy this hp with similar features. What a problem! The Toshiba was so easy to use right out of the box. Connected quickly. The hp took longer to set up and then - couldn't connect to the internet. Called customer support and they said to go to Netgear and download a program for compatability issues with Vista. I hung up, went to Netgear, no such thing. Returned it the next day.
Pros: 2GB memory, web cam, styling and media card slot for photos Cons: 2 hour battery
I've had my HP dv6449us for eight months now and love it.
My first choice at CC was out of stock and settled for this.
Having 2gb of memory for vista is a must and have had no
issues with the wireless connection.
Great laptop for those with a good financial and technological sense in mind by theburninator ,Oct 07 '07
Pros: Crystal clear screen, 2gb ram (upgradeable to 4), GO 6150, sleek, slim design. Cons: warm touchpad with hours of use. Battery life is short with media applications, nothing more.
This laptop is a breeze to use, works flawlessly with vista, and connects strongly to any network I've thrown at it. I think most of the problems people have is just inability to cope with vista transitioning from XP. It's the same in a few ways, but ultimately, you have to basically relearn most of the programming and such for Vista. This laptop has a video card capable of running WOW, Halo, and even Halo 2 with some performance tweaks. It also accepts 4gb of ram which is normally outrageous for a laptop. If you can get past the user handicap with vista, you can do anything with this laptop.
Do not waste your money! by flexingrat ,Dec 28 '08
Pros: The only good thing I can state about this is that it is "pretty". Cons: Crashes all the time. Can't connect to the internet.
We have a HP Pavillion DV6449 that has been nothing but a costly headache. We have spent countless hours with phone support from HP, Microsoft, etc, and it still doesn't work right. Now HP wants us to pay for thier support to fix it! I paid almost $1300 for it (includes anti-virus, etc). HP support is horrible; they give you the run around and blame everyone but them until it is out of warranty, then claim that they will help you for a fee... I will not do any business with them ever again, and I suggest that you don't either. The latest failure on it is that it will turn on, but it will not run the operating system (which makes it completely useless). I contacted HP, and they are having the same issue on a ton of other models, but my model number and product number do not match thier planned fixes. Therefore, they are requiring payment to even look at it (they have a list of over 100 other models with the same issue at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv60 and then put in /ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc =en&cc=ca&docname =c01300427#c01300427_dv60
Wireless problems Solved for me by ktrebor ,Nov 09 '07
Pros: great price, many features, very stylish Cons: none after figuring the problem with my wi-fi
Many Reviewers mention a problem connecting to their home wi-fi network. I had this same problem when I first purchased my hp dv6449us at circuit city. I returned this model 3 times only to experience the same problem. I even bought a new router with the same poor results. I was totally frustrated and packing up the unit when my girlfriend asked me if I had tried changing the channel setting on my router. She was absolutely right in her call. I changed the channel and have had no problem since. Now that I have dependable wi-fi at home this is the greatest laptop I have owned, stylish and loaded with features for one great price.
