Pros: Full keyboard. Num/Caps indicator lights near respective keys. Lightweight for 17". Tons of ports! Cons: Defect with the hinge. HD gets pretty warm/hot. High-pitched noise from speaker due to CPU.
I was going to write a review last week about this machine, and I was going to start off saying how it was good that i waited because I incurred problems which will make me rate this poorly. By wiaint another week things have changed yet again, so ...
Pros: beautiful design, great sound, decent screen, powerful, fast, large keyboard, great customer service from HP Cons: buttons beep, decent screen, headphone jacks, fluke-y webcam, defective lid hinge
I just want to preface this review by saying that I am not a techno-snob. I don't know much about computers except what I've been forced to learn, and past doing what I need to do, I don't much care. I don't really know numbers and stats and whatnot, so ...
Pros: Small, touch screen, fast and fingerprint security option Cons: Only one option for graphics card and you need a screen protector.

I have both a DV9000T (with the upgraded nVidia 256 meg GeForce 7000 series Video, standard LCD) and a DV9009 (with the standard video, but upgraded brighter LCD) and I can tell you that both of these machines are fantastic! First off, the exterior is ...
Pros: It works... Cons: Its slow, power cord isnt durable, cheaply built, faulty left hinge, etc etc.
I bought this computer in January of 2006. It seemed like a fairly decent computer for the first couple of months. First problem I had, was I was typing and the left "Ctrl" key came off. I finally figured out how to put it back in correctly. It ...
Pros: Great looking screen. Programs run great. Great desktop replacement for the price. Cons: Left side touchpad, easy to touch quickstart buttons, heavy.
I purchased this to use as a laptop computer. It is a great laptop but made for as a desktop replacement because of the size and weight. This is not a laptop you want to have on your lap because it is to big! It comes with a 17" widescreen LCD and a ...

Pros: looks nice and is good when it works. Cons: Support is the WORST, replacement parts do not fit.
The laptop/notebook itself is good if it works... However, if it does not work well then you are in for quite a bad road. HP's support is HORRIBLE. The offshore, first line people DO NOT LISTEN and ONLY read the manual to you for troubleshooting. If ...
Pros: Good Brand Name, Beautiful Screen, History of high quality products (no longer) Cons: The most basic functionality failed. Overseas support is hard to understand, rude and non-responsive.

I have had this computer for about a week now and so far I love it. I ordered directly from HP and was able to customize it with higher ram and screen resolution. I also got the TV Tuner Card. Performance has been great so far and I've been able to ...
Pros: Very crisp 17 inch wide screen. Designed for multimedia.Full sized keyboard. Cons: Max one hour on battery.
Excellent laptop. Very clear screen. Recommend upgrade to 1650x1080 resolution. No complaint, no issues. I run Vista and Linux in dual boot. Just a bit on the bleeding edge for Linux.
Pros: Excellent speed, bright screen Cons: On-keyboard volume and media buttons are awkward
Maybe I come from a situation where I'm easier to please than I normally would be, but this computer has been excellent for me. I previously had an Toshiba with Vista and only 1 GB of RAM that was stolen. That computer was an absolute nightmare, costing me so much time with how slow it was. My DV9000 does everything I could ask of it and more.
Love the Laptop...HATE VISTA by dtr1129 ,Feb 10 '08
Pros: Lots of features, portable size, good speed and memory. Cons: Windows Vista. I don't like Vista.
Maybe it's because I'm used to XP, but the only thing I dislike about this laptop is Vista. Otherwise, this is a great little machine...portable, lots of features, and plenty of memory and speed for games, e-mail, photos, and webcamming.
SERIOUS hinge/back panel problem by tailfins1959 ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: HDMI connection for HDTV viewing. Cons: Chronically defective product, should be recalled.
There is even a website devoted to this problem:

I bought my dv9000 from www.solectrondirect.com for $700 about 5 months ago, no warranty. I just got hit with the bezel problem last week. Being an IT professional, I just dont do manufacturers warranty; its more trouble than its worth. I visited the HP Parts Store and got new top plastics for a whisker over $100. When I get this thing apart, Im going to try using silicon grease to lubricate the hinge. Otherwise its another $50 for the hinge assembly (includes both sides).
