Pros: Compact and will scan your 35mm negatives and slides!
Cons: Limit on a 5 x 7 inch photo scan!

Summary: The HP PhotoSmart S20 scanner is a small device, that measures 8 inches wide by 3.9 inches high by 11.6 inches in length, that can easily be place anywhere. This little scanner will let you scan your 35mm negatives and 35mm mounted slides, both can be ... read more

Pros: Scans prints, slides, and negatives, reasonably priced on used market.
    Cons: Nothing worth noting

Summary: This unit is the earlier SCSI version of the later HP S20 (USB) Photo Scanner. The C5100A and the S20 look and operate much the same way, the main difference being the interface (SCSI versus USB), and possibly the scanning resolution and / or Pixel ... read more

Pros: Very good quality, reasonable price
Cons: Slow, can't handle non-35mm negatives such as APS or large format

Summary: This scanner can handle slides, 35mm negatives and photos (up to 5x7). I haven't yet tried scanning slides; 90% of my scans have been from 35mm negatives. I bought this a year ago with the plan to archive/digitize all of my 35mm negatives. While I ... read more

Pros: high quality, easy to use, compact
Cons: can be hard to place slides/film correctly, software not very helpful

Summary: My favorite new toy is the HP PhotoSmart 20 film scanner. Flat bed conversion systems never gave great results and other film scanners of the same quality cost far more. This little one-button box is just about right. Setting the scanner up ... read more

Pros: Small footprint.  Fits where conventional scanners won't fit.  Resolution is excellent.
Cons: Noisy.  Won't work on OS later than XP.  Small feed for photos.

Summary: I've had the HP S20 since about 2001.  Only problem is that I now have Windows Vista and it won't work on that operating system.  Fortunately I kept my old computer that worked on Windows 98 and can still use my S20 with that.  But it sure

Pros: Easy to use software Excellent with Hamrick's.
Cons: No use to it under XP

Summary: This scanner performs decently under windows 98/ME but there is no use to it if you wish to use it under Windows XP. There are some drivers supposed to work with XP but there is no use to install them - They won't work and there is no explanation from
