Hewlett Packard LaserJet P3005dn Printer

Pros: It does print very quickly, when it works.
Cons: Will not last for one year.  Buy the warranty or look for something else.

We bought this printer for our office usage.  We did not have the opportunity to set it up right away so it sat for a few months unused.  When we finanally did set it up it worked great for less than a year and about a month after ...

Worked good for the first week before the screen went blank.  I then spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support trying to diagnose the problem. Finally they determined the formatter was bad and we were instructed to take it to the local authorized repair shop. 

Three weeks later we’re still waiting for the part.  So I spent another hour on the phone with HP customer support who just wants to blame the repair shop.  This shop is also recommended by the University and I have used them before with no problems. 

So after three weeks without a printer and an hour on the phone I agreed to accept a refurbished replacement but ask for a 1 year warranty on the replacement printer.  If the refurbished is just as good shouldn’t they stand behind it as well?   HP said no go and wanted me to pay to ship the refurbished printer.   

So if you want a printer that doesn’t work and like to spend hours on the phone with tech and customer support, buy this printer.
