Pros: The location and price combine to make this an outstanding choice... Cons: ...but there is limited opportunity for groups
Finding an inexpensive hotel in a major metropolitan area is a daunting task. While hoteliers regularly attract leisure travelers with sexy weekend rates designed to fill rooms when the business travelers go home, weekday rates can be two, three or ...
Pros: Great Location, Brand New, Good Value, Great Amenities for the price, Close to Metro Stops Cons: Vending machines not maintained properly
One is always skeptical of the hotels in the DC area. Since the neighborhoods change from one block to the next, you never really know where you are going to end up.
Well, after reading a little bit about the Hilton Garden Inn on Franklin...
The location and condition of this property make it a good choice when choosing to stay in downtown Washington. Its location directly across the street from METRO's McPherson Square rail station makes it great for guests without a car. It's not too far ...
Pros: New hotel, great rooms Cons: Management knows about bad vending machines, won't fix them
The location of the hotel is great, right across from Metro stop McPherson Square.
It is located in the financial district, which means most restaurants are expensive, and casual places (like Subway or Au Bon Pain) close early.
The hotel rooms are well furnished, with refrigerator, microwave, and high-speed internet access. There is also a business center on the first floor with computers for registered guests.
As mentioned by the other reviewer, the hotel vending and ice machines are mostly broken. I believe management is well aware of the problem, and do not post "Out of service" signs to keep making $1.50 every time someone tries to buy a can of Coke. Don't bother calling the front desk to get your money back or a replacement coke. All they're willing to offer is water.
Given that there are plenty of other hotels in the area, I won't choose this one on my next trip to D.C.
Pros: Free Internet, Nice Pool Cons: Vanilla Smell
The first thing I noticed on the way to my room are the bountiful smells. This is not usually a good thing, and I didn't enjoy it. The cleaning staff puts tons of vanilla scent in the hallways (I'm not sure what smell they are covering). Also, each of the elevators seemed to have a distinct odor.
Not sure what that's all about, but the rest of the experience was good:
Valet - quick and efficient; $24 day for in and out service
Check In - Nice staff, although you have to wait occasionally.
Rooms - Nice size, clean, modern
Internet - Very quick, FREE!
