Pros: Inexpensive, large head, lightweight Cons: none
While visiting a local sporting goods store, another customer walked past me asking if I had ever seen a Hippo club. I hadn't...and he just went on and on about his friends at the golf course hitting these things with amazing power. 250+ yds. He went...
Pros: Big Sweet Spot, great feel, great sound, inexpensive. Cons: None
I've been wanting a new driver for some time now. I've been hitting a pro-select 400cc reg flex graphite shaft driver that I had bought from K-mart. It's a good club and I can hit it pretty well, but I've used some of my friends' name brand clubs...
Pros: Very forgiving, nice feel, and easy to hit Cons: No carry and poor ball flight
I just started getting back into the game of golf and was told I should look at getting an oversized driver. I must admit that the oversized driver was great advice; it is very easy to hit and hit straight.
Pros: Distance, distance, distance - also an attractive paint scheme. Cons: Looks a bit out of place in my bag (but I really don't care)
I picked up this club from a dealer on the net last year for less than $ 100. I had hit one when first introduced and the low price was all I needed to purchase my own. I'm not a big hitter, but have ripped off a couple better than 280 with this big...
HiPPO Giant 400cc: Good Value, But Not That Great Of A Driver. by golfer789 ,Jul 11 '04
Pros: Price Cons: Can't work the ball, no roll and too high, not much good feel either.
Last year I purchased a Giant 8 degree driver for a cheap price. I read good reviews and thought that HiPPO was a decent brand. Now, I think I should've waited and bought a better driver and saved $80.
The Giant is a decent value. I bought mine for only $80, and it has a fairly sized sweet spot. My club has 8* of loft and I'd like my shots to get good roll. When I get the ball right in the sweet spot it goes very high, but really doesn't roll anywhere, on a decent shot I get 20 yards of roll. When I mis-hit the ball loses very much distance and really slices. I also can not work the ball, but I don't think too many golfers care about that.
If all you want is a big head, then maybe the Giant would be a good choice, but if you're serious about your game, then buy yourself some nice equipment. Many other drivers will give you better performance.
Pros: Large sweet spot, good action off face. Great price Cons: Shaft tends to flex a lot if you swing to fast.
The Hippo Giant I bought is a very good club for those of us who have a swing speed below 110 mph. That is most of us golfers. This club has a generous sweet spot and a 2 degree fade off the face to keep your shots in the short grass. Very light good action off the face.
