Pros: It works, it makes my back feel better and works out some of the knots. Cons: No heat. Noise level.
Last year my husband and I were out doing some Christmas shopping, and came across this HoMedics Therapist Select Shiatsu Back Massager in a well known store. They had one on display, and there were a few people waiting to try it out. I finally ...
Pros: Very comfortable on lower back, anchors securely and easily to most chairs, auto-off Cons: Uncomfortable for certain body structures, can only use for 15 minute intervals, limited functionality
I have had lower back pain in the past, and thought this Therapist Select SBM-200 cushion sounded like a great idea because it didn't just vibrate, it actually exerted a pressure on your back to simulate an actual massage. When I saw the unit at a flea ...
Pros: Easy setup, movable, easy to clean, not having to go to the chiropractor. Cons: I wish it could do my feet.
My wife and I go to the mall and Wal-Mart as our source of entertainment, as we live in the woods in the middle of nowhere and there is not much to do. On one such occasion we stopped by the pharmacy for some soap and I saw this shiatsu pad and another ...
Pros: Very well designed to give excellent results Cons: Concern about reliability over time. Have a backup plan.
My experience with back massage has been at the hands of various masseuses as well as also a relaxing roller table that my back doctor (chiropractor) used so as to loosen the muscles before moving them around for corrections. This Homedics product ...
Pros: Roller ball mechanisms can feel good on sore muscles. Cons: No pause button to concentrate roller action on one area. Awkward to place in chair.
I purchased the Homedics Therapist Select shiatsu back massager from Macys, where shopping with my husband, we were both drawn to the interactive display. We each sat down and tested it, and maybe it was because we'd both sampled a few beers at the mall ...
Pros: Roller Pressure, Roller moves the whole length of the back Cons: No Car Adapter, Doesn't reach the Lumbar bone
For the < $ 100 this is a great massager. Its massages very well mainly because of the rollers that travel the length of the spine on the back. Its as effective as any hand massage session if not better. The rollers are quite strong so a towel or a ...
Pros: Makes you feel relaxed and loose! Cons: A little painful at times.
I wake up Christmas morning and what do I see under my tree but a large box, and wait another large box. My fiance and I dive into our gifts both opening the large box and what was there but two of these massagers. We each bought the other this massager ...
Pros: Better than vibration massage, really hits the spot! Cons: Not for sensative folks, can't concentrate on an area alone.
The newer model should be better if they listen to customers. This thing is amazing. Just put it in a chair, plug it in (follow directions about the cords first time) and you get a DEEP TISSUE massage. It goes and goes, can do lower back, upper back ...
Pros: feels like a real shiatsu massage Cons: only up and down along spine
pricey
I was leery about the price but I sure am pleased with its performance! If you love deep tissue massage it is a great buy. Whats even better is that you can adjust the amount of pressure you get by slightly pushing back.
I received the Home Medics Shiatsu Back Massager as a Christmas gift. Having never used a removable back massager before i was intrigued by the gift. I placed it in my favorite chair (La-Z-Boy recliner) and turned it on. I found the rollers to be very similar to the fingertips that you would feel during an actual massage. On my lower back (at the bottom of the the cycle it considers to be the lower back) it was fantastic. Just the right amount of pressure. However, as it moved up, it became somewhat painful right in the middle of my back. Once it passed the middle it again became just right. I now find myself leaning forward to avoid it during the middle of its cycle.
Overall, this is a good massager. It does feel really good when it hits the right spots, but beware there may be some discomfort.
Pros: Affordable, built well, auto 15 min shut off, very strong powerful Shiatsu style motors. Cons: Nothing so far.
I Purchased this massager at BJ's wholesale club on sale for $79.00. They had a demo of the same exact massager only in the form of a reclining chair. It felt great and wanted one right away, but with Christmas coming up I didn't want to spend $300.00, so it's great they offer the same system, minus the actual chair. Do heed the 15 minute maximum use at a time warning, for it is a pretty powerful little machine that can actually make you sore if used too long. Great Shiatsu action up and down the back, with your choice of full, upper and lower back settings, by use of a remote control. This is no cheap vibrating massager that just stimulates and relaxes the muscles. It really digs deep and hits the spots. If you have done any research on massage recliners and massaging units, you will see they get quite expensive(into the thousands)so even the $300.00 reclining version is a super value. Check out Homedics other massaging products, as there is a wide variety at great prices.
Felt great until it quit working - lasted less than an hour! by ronfhall ,Dec 27 '06
Pros: Felt great while it lasted. Cons: Failed in first hour of use, after only three "cycles."
Poor warranty terms.
The unit was purchased as a Christmas present. I had tried demo units while shopping and was impressed with the resulting relaxation. Unfortunately, the purchased unit only worked three times. Two full back and one demo cycle were all it was good for.
The warranty says two years, but requires my sending it in at my cost. That is not going to happen on those terms. I have an email in to customer service. Unless their reply alters my plan, I'll likely return it and get my money back.
Great idea, appeared to be good quality, but the product obviously lacks durability. We'll be finding out whether Homedics "customer service" is any better quality than their product.
"Consumers Digest Best Buy" appears to be a worthless item. Is the "award" paid for by the manufacturer?
Loved it until it broke within a week by harveygarrett ,Sep 02 '06
Pros: Worked well for fist week - then broke. Two year warranty. Cons: Broke within week. Warranty requires me to mail it back to them at my cost.
I really liked this product, even at the $100 price, and used it at least once a day until it broke about 7 days after I bought it. Except for it breaking so quickly the only complaint I had was that the swirling massage movement didn't reach high enough for my neck - otherwise this product worked much better than expected until it broke.
I unzipped the bottom of the cusion to peek inside ans a little white plastic gear fell out of the bottom.
I looked up my warranty and it requires me to send it back to the factory at my cost. I like the two year warranty, but how much will it cost for me to mail it back to them - and how long will it take to fix?
I have an email in to their customer service system - let's see what happens. So far I'd have to say that $100 was too much to pay for only one week of use.
I only weigh about 150 pounds so I don't think I could have been too hard on it.
Who could ask for anything more than that to a personal masseuse at your fingertips? by samjeung ,Dec 13 '05
Pros: The massager provides comfort upon the back like the sun warms upon your belly. Cons: To this my only regret is only having one of my back to massage upon.
Have you ever sat beneath a walnut tree and had nuts fall upon your back in perfect synchronicity? This massager in its utter magnificence does just to that.
Pros: Felt great on my sour back when it worked. Cons: $100 price and only worked 3 months.
This chair felt great until it quit working. My b/f bought it for me for Christmas. Not worth the $100 price tag. For $100 these chairs should not break so easily. I weight 130 lbs. so weight is not an issue. - was very disappointed with this chair. Would never buy another one.
