I am using the HAP422-U in conjunction with a Holmes humidifier in the 10x12 bedroom of a house that has 2 dogs, 2 cats in the middle of a heavily wooded area. I have had these units operating for a month. I have mild allergy problems normally, but have experienced no symptoms with these 2 units running, as long as I remain in the bedroom. The humidifier does not disturb my sleep - it's reminiscent of white noise, and the 422 is significantly quieter on low speed and somewhat quieter on high.
