  • Honda HRX Series Mower, Honda even Mows Well!

    May 12, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Mows great, easy startup, excellent overall
    Cons: somewhat expensive

Summary: As an experienced grass mower, I had often thought the only real difference in mowing equipment came when differentiating from the pushed type to the riding type. I mowed my parents grass as a youth for many years and used many mowers in the process, ... read more

  • 5 years with 2 identical HRB models so 10 years

    Mar 1, 2012 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: High end Honda mowers cut beautifully and they impress snobby neighbors and potential clients.
Cons: No modern mowers are particularly durable in my experience and Honda is no exception.

Summary: I have been running 2 HRB mowers in a little landsccaping business that augments my income and keeps me healthy. Both mowers have been in service for 5 years now. Each mower runs 2.5 hours a week 7 months a year. I maintain my equipment by the book, I am ... read more

Pros: excellent hydrostatic transmission and wheels
Cons: Handles thin and long and warranty does appy to much on the mower.

Summary: This is a review on the Honda HRX217HXA which is loaded with the blade clutch and hydrostatic drive but not with electric start. After buying this mower from home depot which worked great out of the box 6 weeks into the mowing season the ... read more

    Pros: Ridiculously easy to start
Cons: waited to long.... maybe Hydrogen powered by 2020?

Summary: I used to mow a lot of lawns with my dad, and I can only say if we had this, we would have had a lot more of the saturday to enjoy. I went thru two of them, started with the metal one, and then went to the polymer (plastic?) one. I had the metal ... read more

  • Honda HRX217HXA (manual start) Self Propelled Walk Behind Mulcher

    Sep 12, 2010 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Mowing now is a pleasurable experience (arguably).
Effortless starting. Infinite walking speed. Exceptional mulcher.
Cons: A little pricey, but worth the extra bucks.

Summary: My opinion - and I've been mowing lawns for 40 years, but this is absolutely the best I've ever operated. I've had two Hondas (this is my third) in 20 years. The previous two were still going strong - I just wanted to upgrade. And I did. I've had this ... read more

Nice even cut on the lawn
    Easy to turn
    Variable (hydrostatic) speed transmission

Hard to adjust mower height on front wheels
    Oil drain procedure

Summary: I bought this mower when it first came out.  I had my older Honda mower in for routine service and this one caught my eye.  Since the dealer was going to give me $200 for my trade-in, it made this new mower affordable.  It seemed ... read more

  • Honda HRX217K2HMA Self Propelled, Electric Start: Great Mower

    Mar 12, 2010 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: High quality, durable, electric start, highly adjustable drive, efficient, relatively quiet.
Cons: No engine driven charging system.  Bagging seems slightly dustier than average, although is not unreasonable.

Summary: I bought this mower this week to replace a 17 year old John Deere Tri-Cycler self propelled 21" bagger/mulcher.  The Deere still runs and cuts great, but will be semi-retired to a less active life at the hunting camp.  This Deere cost ... read more

Summary: I have the HRX mower. I love it, with one exception. I have used it about 20 hours. After first 12-15 hours of use, it began putting out blue smoke from the exhaust( to me, being from the old school, that spells burning oil). It wasn't bad, but you ... read more

Summary: After buying this mower new at (HD), I was expecting a little more for my ($640.00). While the mower did start on the second pull, and ran quietly, it DID NOT have enough power to cut 5" dry grass without bogging down. The "Versa-mow" works fine in ... read more

Pros: Good level cut, easy to start/maintain, Cruise Control is a great drive system.
Cons: Pricey, Clip Director system does not live up to expectations.

Summary: This mower replaced a top-of-the line John Deere mower that I had owned for about 10 years. While the JD was a good mower, during the time I owned it I frequently wished I had purchased Honda instead. So I finally did. I bought this mower to replace ... read more

Pros: Beautiful cutting performance. Big muscle engine. Intuitive drive system. Smooth, quiet, low maintenance.
Cons: Getting into this club isn't inexpensive.
