Outstanding quality and function

by troy1234
Jul 02 '09

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Indestructable. high quality, 21 miles on a gallon , fits 8 ( 5 very comfortble)
Cons: mediocre styling
The Bottom Line: if this pilot is an example of honda quality I am now a honda man.

This is the first car I ever bought based upon written reviews and friends testimonials about the reliability of Honda. I have 154.000 miles on it - original exhaust in place - 2 cars have been totaled by ramming me in the rear with hardly a scratch on ...

This is the SUV you need

Apr 19 '07 - Updated Apr 20 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fuel economy, Navigation, Reliability, and Comfort.
Cons: Expensive, no MP3 option, Navi upgrade too expensive.
The Bottom Line: If you see one for a good price, run don't walk.

When our old minivan needed to go we were shocked at the price of a new one. We also like having three seats across the middle row for kids and wanted all-wheel drive. Most new Vans do not have AWD so they can have seating that disappears into the floor. ...

Honda Pilot 2003, sporty alternative to boring Wagon

by zubrila
Aug 11 '06 - Updated Aug 12 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Nice quiet ride
Cons: Expensive to repair, power steering issues
The Bottom Line: Nice SUV, new or used. Not cheap though

We purchased our Pilot 2003 used two years ago. Miles were high ( 75 K), but price was right ( $18,000 at Toyota dealer with 3% car loan). Pilot, as other Honda vehicles, holds value pretty well. I still see 2003 Pilots for over 20 G's if miles are low. ...

A Honda Lemon? Oh MY!

by whiteexplorer
Jun 18 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Handling, Ride, Gas Mileage, Power, Rear Seat
Cons: Problems with Honda North America, Horrible Seats, Horrible Dash Layout
The Bottom Line: Its a nice suv, but its over priced and its dealer and corperate network are to corrupt for words

We decided to buy an 03 pilot and an 03 explorer, both in november 2002..We liked them both and because we needed to cars, we decided to splurge and buy both..We traded a 96 Explorer and a 96 Accord for them (the accord for the pilot and the explorer for ...

Acuras MDX , Fords Explorer adds the sport this sport ute is missing

by cmiller322
Dec 31 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, Wind stablity, Resale
Cons: Other than the above, this is just average. Hum drum
The Bottom Line: I like the explorer, highlander and mdx better. Acura dealers seem more freindly and careing and the ford is better for familys. Highlander is perfect for mature couples

We had a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Baure with 112K. We had just started looking for our odyssey van and decided to start looking at replacing the explorer as well. We drove a new explorer first, but after owning 5 of them and a jeep grand cherokee, we ...

Honda Pilot SUV 2003

by zonk1972
Feb 14 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Standard features, competitive pricing to comparable SUV's.
Cons: Not very stylish, a little stiff driving.
The Bottom Line: In this over-priced auto world, the $31,750 leather equipped Honda Pilot is a great value.

I have been leasing the Honda Pilot for almost 10 months now and the more I use it, the more I like it. I was going to originally lease the Acura MDX but, at 6'4" and 235lbs., I was not very comfortable in the front seat. Acura makes a great SUV but, you ...

Honda Pilot 2003, EXL-NAV

by shaival
Jan 08 '04 - Updated Jan 09 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas Mileage. Insurance Costs Low. U-turns. 3rd row seats for kids.
Cons: Handling(loose steering). Height of the car(definitely need sidestep).
The Bottom Line: It's a great SUV, especially if you are cost-conscious. If you have owned a Nissan Pathfinder before, you may not like it as much on the handling.

The 2003 Honda Pilot is a great SUV for first time SUV drivers. Though for some that have driven SUV's before, it lacks a few things that older SUV's have and also has some good points. The first good point is the Insurance. Having great ...

Not sure if I like it

by iggs
Nov 16 '03 - Updated Nov 17 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Quiet, comfortable ride. Safe. Large cargo area.
Cons: Horrible radio/sound even in EX. Steering too_light. Saggy leather seats. Uninspiring handling. Expensive maintenance schedule.
The Bottom Line: Buy a Toyota Highlander.

My pilot is only 2 weeks old and I am still not sure if I like it or not. I bought it for the following reasons: larger family, all the rave reviews, my friend told me he loved it, and because of supposedly good Honda quality. Cons: I did test drive i ...

Great Family Car

by jdmills70
Nov 14 '03 - Updated Feb 19 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfort, Visibility, Finish, Smooth Power, Value
Cons: No Sunroof Option, Exterior looks aren't awe-inspiring
The Bottom Line: The 2004 Honda Pilot is a perfect family vehicle for those who need a minivan and refuse to buy one. Its the best value around for mid-sized SUVs.

We looked at a variety of SUVs before settling on a 2004 Honda Pilot, which is the best value in mid-sized SUVs. We also loved the Sequoia, but to get one comparably equipped, it would have been another $15,000 or so. The Yukon was too big, too cushy and ...

Not perfect, but still great!

by kentva
Oct 29 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Driving experience, interior design, storage room, value.
Cons: Exterior design, 3rd-row seats, road noise, no door guards.
The Bottom Line: An outstanding vehicle with lots of little extras for a great value. Is it perfect? No. But its flaws are minor and it is a pleasure to drive.

I spent several weeks reading all the SUV ratings and recommendations and ended up with a Pilot. I couldn't be more pleased. My Pilot EX-L has Honda's top trim package, and has every major option (rear cargo cover, day/night mirror, 6-CD changer, etc.) ...

Outstanding package overall

by sunkongzane
Sep 05 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Decent HP, ergonomics, interior space, ride, good handling for an SUV.
Cons: Some controls should have been illuminated, lack of some basic accessories.
The Bottom Line: Excellent vehicle for the price! Excellent customer service! Excellent all around package!

I purchased this vehicle 3 weeks ago and must say it has, and will continue to be a pleasure to drive. Though I had researched and had been very interested in the Pilot since its roll-out... I had planned to keep a '97 Honda Passport and invest in a 'ca ...

Pros: Worth every penny, 3rd row seat folds flat, 8 passenger (mainly kids)
Cons: Uncomfortable front seat and limited room for 3rd row seat passengers
The Bottom Line: Great Purchase, but Honda has two items to address in the next model release.

We purchased our 2003 Honda Pilot in December 2002 and after having a minivan for 8 years, we were r ...

Aug 16 '03 - Updated Oct 27 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Best SUV Value on the market
Cons: Tires are lame, need's 17's or 18's
The Bottom Line: Great value, needs just a few annoyingly absent creature comforts to be perfect.

OK, 1 1/2 years now and still loving it. I decided to get a CRV as our second car instead of another pilot. I just don't need as much room. The Pilot is the family car and we couldn't be happier. NO PROBLEMS of any sort. As with most Honda's, the ...
