  • Bring On The Snow My Honda HS724TA Snowblower And I Are Ready Once Again!

    Jan 27, 2004 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Fantastic Blower, Great Power for size, easy to operate, parts easy to find
Cons: Recoil start, or pull rope,$$$ for a walk and push blower

Summary: "Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow" The Honda HS724TA can handle just about anything "Ole Man Winter" has to throw out. This 6.5HP 2stage self propelled blower can get the job done. Maybe not as powerful as his big brother ... read more

Pros: Powerful, easy to use, quick start, easy to store & lift
    Cons: chute control

Summary: Got rid of 2 year old 2 stage 8HP Toro snowblower because it was to heavy to manuever (had alot of turning to do). Did alot of research on single stage snowblowers and decided on the Toro 421QES as first choice and the Honda HS520AS as the second choice. ... read more

  • Oldy but goody: Honda HS70 and Honda HS55 snowblower

    Nov 7, 2010 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good engine and high quality built.
Cons: Hard to find one used and not cheap.

Summary: I would like to review Honda HS70 and Honda HS55 snowblowers together because both are from the same era (1980's), same design, and same operation. Except one is with 5 hp engine and one is with 7 hp engine, one is 22 inches width and one is 24 inches. I ... read more

Summary: Andrew Paluch......from my desk to yours...Review of the Honda HS622, Snow-blower. I purchased Honda HS 622 machine from Cycle World on Dundas St. West in Toronto, Ontario I paid around 1800$, I am not sure the exact $, but I can find ... read more

  • What were the designers thinking?

    Mar 2, 2008 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: Easy starting, quiet, smooth and efficient engine. Throws snow a long way.
Cons: Hard to handle auger and transmission controls, poorly designed chute controls

Summary: I was very disappointed with this machine after using a Simplicity for many years. I weight 205 and work out on a regular basis. The forearm strength needed to engage the auger and wheels and keep them engaged is excessive and totally unnecessary even ... read more

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Blows any condition of snow beautifully. Starts in the coldest weather. Powerful. Hydrostatic drive!
Cons: overpriced, poor handling, expensive parts and labor.

Summary: I purchased this blower 2 years ago, fall of 2006. I live in the western Adirondack mountains of upstate Ny - heavy snowfall and zone 3-4 (cold winters). My driveway length is over 1000' so I'm clearing much more than that in terms of turn arounds, ... read more

  • Great for Wet Snow -- High Quality

    Jan 14, 2008 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: Smooth, quiet, easy to start, throws wet snow.
Cons: More difficult to steer and control than a wheel-driven snowblower

Summary: I've only used this once in about 6 inches of snow, but I thought I would record my first thoughts. I bought a Honda HS928 when my old Toro 824 broke down. It's in for repairs and I think I'll keep it for a spare. One of the greatest things about ... read more

  • Expected the best....

    Dec 20, 2007 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: Powerful, sturdy, some very impressive features
Cons: Expensive, slow, hard to keep going in a straight line

Summary: I bought the HS1132TA with the expectations that it would be the best snow blower you could buy. The price was almost twice the nearest competitor. The 1132 did not live up to expectations. Although it is a very powerful machine that has a lot of ... read more

    Nov 20, 2007 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: light, dependable, electric start is there for the wife
Cons: Fuel tank lasts just one driveway just adequate

Summary: I went looking for a snow blower last year, I looked at the cheapies Murray, Yardman, etc at the big box stores and being a bit of a gearhead wasn't big on the Tecumseh and the 2 stokes. They are cheap engines with a service life of 3 or 4 years if you ... read more

Pros: When it works, it's light and rather powerful.
    Cons: It rarely works.

Summary: I have had this machine for almost 4 years and have only gotten to use it 6 times but not due to lack of snow. Here's how it goes... I get the machine back from the shop in the summer or fall, and it works for the first light snowfall of the year. But ... read more

  • Aggresive Little Bugger, fasten your seat belt

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Power, EZ Start, Throws a mile, fast, great for sidewalks, light for travel
Cons: a bit of maneuvering required on a downslope. Work uphill when possible. Controls better

Summary: Aggressive Little Bugger Well I must say it took long enough this year but here it is February and I am finally using my little HS520A Honda single stage paddlewacker. I was given this in August of 06 for my birthday and it just figures that Mother ... read more

  • Under-engineered and overpriced: save your money and buy something else

    Jan 19, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Easy to start, hydrostatic transmission
Cons: Exorbitantly overpriced, difficult to move, surprisingly backward engineering, poor overall performance

Summary: I once believed that Honda was virtually a synonym for quality, so I purchased the Honda HS1132TAS (the electric start version) thinking that its performance would justify its astronomical price: about $2800, or about twice the price of typical 32-inch ... read more

  • The worst snow blower I have ever owned

    Jan 8, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Well built,easy start.
Cons: Poor design, will only work well on completely flat surfaces.

Summary: I live in a ski town at 6700ft in Colorado, and have used about every snow blower on the market over the years. We had over 420 inches of snow last year and my two snow blowers from Sears were getting old. I had the 11hp/30inch and a 8hp/24inch machine. ... read more

  • This snow blower is the BOMB!!

    Dec 29, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Power, ease of use, high quality
Cons: Storage, envy from the neighbors

Summary: After 47" of snow (in three days) in 2003 I bought this snow blower. I didn't want a snow blower I had to fight with because it lacked traction and power. I reviewed a number of snow blowers and decided on the Honda because of features and past ... read more

  • Great Blower, another Honda standout

    Jun 28, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Reliable, easy to start, no fuss
Cons: not officially self propelled, costs as high as some low level self propelled models

Summary: I live in CT. Have owned it now for three years. I have a long driveway. This puppy clears even the biggest storms. I used it in a 16 to 18 inch storm and it was up to the task. Take care of it properly and it will take care of you. Empty the gas at the ... read more

  • Perfect for light or tough snow clearing.

    Apr 2, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Unstoppable. Capable of clearing snow and ice in the toughest situations. 100% reliable, effortless starting.
Cons: Expensive, noisy, clumsy "old school" controls and layout.

Summary: THE PERFECT ALL-ROUND SNOW CLEARING APPLIANCE. It might be the "smallest" Honda snowblower but it is nonetheless capable of any snow-clearing job. I've clearing large spaces quickly and I've plowed through six feet of compacted snow after leaving my ... read more

  • Superior snowblower for heavy, wet, deep snow

    Mar 1, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Immense power, throws snow 50 feet, cuts through anything.
Cons: Relatively difficult to handle in tight places or when turning.

Summary: The 928 track drive from Honda is simply a beast. It will toss the heaviest, wettest snow that's plow jammed at the end of your driveway with ease. I live just north of Buffalo, NY and we see significant snow. The 928 is a bit tough to maneuver in tight ... read more

  • Big isn't always better

    Feb 8, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Lightweight, easy starts, reliable, good for most snowstorms.
Cons: Can't cut through solid ice. Not the best, "if you live in Alaska".

Summary: Big isn't always better. Think twice before you buy an extra large-glacier grinding two stage snowblower from your local big box store. Here's the downside of many of the big 2 stage machines you see available: *** Big, relative high cost ... read more

  • ANOTHER GREAT PRODUCT FROM HONDA

    Dec 9, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Honda quality and engineering in compact package that throws lots of snow.
    Cons: None so far

Summary: I purchased a Honda HS 520A at Thanksgiving and gave it it's first real workout on about 6" of Michigan snow today. I have over 350 feet of circular driveway and the Honda breezed through it with no labor on the engine at all. It is far superior to the ... read more

  • Great Machine, a few problems

    Dec 7, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: hydrostatic track drive, big engine, easy starting. Headlight is handy. Unstoppable blower.
Cons: high center of gravity is bad on slopes. Auger crank location. Custom/proprietary shear pins.

Summary: Purchased a last years model in November '05 two days before we got our first big snow on Mt Hood. Machine seems a little tinny (thin gauge metal) compared to our Simplicity blower at work. Previously owned a Gravely so this machine will have big shoes ... read more

  • Great Single Stage Snow Thrower

    Nov 25, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Super throwing distance, ultra reliable operation, quiet too.
Cons: Not built for hilly drives, walks.

Summary: I had this snow blower for 4 years before finally replacing it with a Track Drive Honda (HS724TA) with a 6.5 HP engine (due to off camber sloped driveway). Here is what I found with my HS621: The build quality was excellent. Never had a ... read more
