First thing, this unit exhausts straight up, so the review that says it exhausts to the side must be a different air purifier. This is a great filter. We had to buy an air purifier for my wife's asthma - an allergy to cats, and she loves our cat, so ...

Pros: Quiet.
Cons: Horrible design. Noticed no difference in air quality.

I bought this and returned it. I have really bad allergies during the fall and after letting this run for 48 hours, I noticed no difference whatsoever.

The worst part about this "purifier" is the horrible design. The air-flow grille on the top is designed in such a way that the air is ejected towards the rear of the unit. If you have this unit against a wall, you have to turn it around so the front of the unit is facing the wall so the air will flow out into the room. This means the back of the unit is facing out with the electrical cord, serial number badge, etc. all visible to everyone.

When I see bad design like this I immediately return the product because it shows that the company doesn't know what it's doing. If they can't get the air flow right, which is a key element of the product, then what else is wrong with it?

Instead I purchased an air purifier with ionization for a little bit more money and it works great.
