Pros: Delicious Hong Kong-style seafood a step above typical fare, elegant second story dining room Cons: Average service despite high prices, tacky interior in main dining room
Hong Kong Flower Lounge is at the other end of the spectrum from the typical, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant tucked in a mini-mall. This large, two-story behemoth stands alone proudly at the corner of Millbrae Ave. and El Camino Real in Millbrae....
Pros: Very good dim sum, lots of variety, and reasonably priced. Cons: Some dishes are surprisingly pricey. Can be very busy, long waits on weekends.
My parents always take me to the Flower Lounge for dim sum after picking me up from SFO--it's only about a 5-minute drive from the airport, and the food is delicious. Recently my roommate and I went to pick up her boyfriend from the airport, and we...
On the outside, this restaurant looks extravagant and excellent. The food is actually not so bad, though it is a bit expensive. There is quite a selection also.
What I did not like about this restaurant was the service. For the money that I...
Overall Experience was Good by moomooeater ,Dec 27 '04
Pros: The managers and older waiters have been around and know what they are doing. Cons: The bathrooms could be cleaner. Some of the other servers seemed inexperienced.
I had my wedding banquet at the Flower Lounge and was surprised how smoothly everything went. Food was very good according to my relatives ( I didn't get to eat) My sister who also coordinated the days events was amazed how organized and experienced our Head Waiter was. He had everything running so smoothly and was ready to move tables and make room for our dance floor as soon as he was noticed that we were getting ready for our garter toss and etc... Space is limited at the Flower Lounge, but if your having a small wedding party its nice and Private upstairs. Also I was expecting small portions of food since my other visits to Flower Lounge was so, but it was nice to see good portions. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.
Pros: large, bright, service is okay Cons: expensive
We went to Hong Kong Flower Lounge and it's not as good as people say. Maybe quality has gone down in the past several years?
The fresh fish is very expensive so ask before you order. The food is overpriced in general. Plus, seeing the fish and crustaceans crammed into those tiny tanks while you eat is enough to make you lose your appetite completely. Many of them are close to going belly up if not already.
If you want truly good Chinese food and dim sum go to Ton Kiang in SF. The only good Chinese restaurant in the bay area in my opinion.
