This unit is the worst! The water tank leaks! I have had 5 replacements. ALso the brushes stop turning second time. The gear that turns the brushes is plastic and breaks!

Pros: Extremely quick drying, light, maneuverability, very deep cleaning.
Cons: Clean water tank too small, leaks when changing tank, leaks when disconnecting hand-tool.

I was unsure if I'm making a mistake buying the most expensive deep-clean in the store, but now I am extremely happy with it and have to buyers remorse. I am kind of addicted to the hand tool, so much so that my husband had to make me stop using it on minor spills and stains. I love doing the whole room - easy and dries very quickly.
On a bad side the clean water tank is too small, so to do an average condo size room - it takes me 4-6 tanks. Also can be hard to put the tank back in and the bottom leaks with every try. Finally, when done using the hand tool and disconnecting the small pipe it spits out a little bit of detergent.
Other then that - it's a great product, wouldn't give it up for anything!

I used this product only twice before the brushes stopped rotating.  The drive for the brushes is a single plastic rod that just did not hold up.  It will cost quite a bit to have this repaired and I am trying to decide on another and better brand and just consider this to be a lesson learned.  I would not recommend this Hoover Steam Vac to anyone.

Pros: None. Get on your hands and knees and scrub you'll thank me for it.
Cons: Built cheaper than Chinese toys!! If it didn't break, it'd probably give you lead poisoning!

You would think that as heavy as this thing is, it would be built well....WRONG! Chinsey, cheap parts that break again and again. Have had to replace the Water/Detergent tank 3 times to date. Owned it for less than one year. Granted it does clean well, but so does getting on your hands and knees with a scrub brush, without the headache!!!

Pros: Easy to use and cleans well. Not cumbersome for a woman to handle.
Cons: None, so far.

I toyed with the idea of renting a shampooer over and against buying one. Went to Consumer Reports and saw this one was well-rated so bought it. I have been VERY happy with the purchase and with the ease and efficiency of operation and clean-up after using the machine. Of course, I still pre-scrub tough stains but the machine does a wonderful job of cleaning. I would buy one again if I needed to.
