Pros: Inexpensive. Bagged convenience. Good on rugs and carpets. Handy tool storage. Maneuverable. Cons: Earsplitting noise level. Tupperware-like build quality. So-so performance on bare floors.
What’s the big deal about vacuums? So many models from which to choose. And the prices! Why, I wondered, should I spend hundreds when I can get a Hoover Tempo Widepath for $69 at Best Buy? Considering the number of reviews this model has already ...
Pros: Easy assembly, alot of convenient features, cheap Cons: Short hose, very loud, short cord that is hard to wind
My husband and I got the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo WidePath Bagged Upright Vacuum off of our wedding gift registry a few months ago, and I have absolutely loved it so far! Assembly This vacuum was incredibly easy to put together. The ...
Pros: strong vacuum, complete basic accessories, low cost Cons: 20' power cord, short stiffer vac hose, poor hose routing, agitator always on
For an executive summary, read only the bolded sentences. Bag or Bagless? Before we even begin, for home use I'd never consider a bagless. Anyone who has owned a Dustbuster or its clones know emptying its small canister scatters dust, and ...
Pros: Jet engine like suction and value for the money. Cons: For the price... none!
Throw your Dyson out! This cheap, ugly Hoover Tempo attacks pet hair like a rabid spider monkey!! I have tried many, many vaccums from Dyson, Oreck, Rainbow, Kirby, Dirt Devil, Bissell etc. however NONE of them even come close to the overall value and ...
Pros: Great suction, Light Weight, handy accessories Cons: Short hose, Power cord is located too close to the hose difficult to wind
I was looking for another Hoover vacuum that would fit my needs, carpet, bare floors and hose attachments. After reading reviews of bagless vacuums, I decided to stick with a vacuum with a bag. The cost of the Tempo was very low for such a great ...
Pros: Doesn't leave any debris behind and is priced very low for the quality you get Cons: The hose could be a little longer
This vacuum got a good review in consumer reports, and they were right on. It works very well (sucks everything up), especially pet hair. I have a house full of shedding dogs and with one pass, every last hair is picked up. It also handles well (self ...
Pros: This is an incredibly affordable machine, if you don't have a lot of heavy vacuuming. Cons: This is not a heavy duty vacuum. It clogs easy and isn't easy to empty.
I had to have a vacuum because my expensive Electrolux blew up. I thought if I had to purchase a vacuum every few years I would go with a less expensive vacuum so I could purchase one every few years if it quit working. It was a good plan but one that I ...
Pros: great suction, lightweight, inexpensive, Cons: short cord, can't turn agitator brush off for bare floors,
My $300 Panasonic Vacuum Cleaner needed a new motor and it was not worth having repaired. I researched Vacuum Cleaners for two weeks and the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum kept coming up as highly recommended. I was not really ...
Pros: low price, powerful, indicator light when bag is full Cons: none
I was not on the market for a vacuum but I was reading about Hoover U5140 - 900 Tempo Widepath Bagged, on sale at Amazon.com for $49 and free shipping and I thought for that price I should give it a try . Boy oh boy I'm glad I did . This vacuum is got a ...
Pros: Has good suction. Works well on carpet. Bags are inexpensive. Cons: Hose isn't long enough, hoses & attachments don't lock, does not work well on hard floors.
I purchased the Tempo Upright because I wanted an inexpensive vacuum to clean my small house which has very little carpet. I have had this vacuum less than 2 years and I HATE it. It makes me incredibly angry, as if vacuuming wasn't irritating enough, I ...
This is one incredible vacuum by carogie ,Mar 23 '07
Pros: Excellent power, ease of use, handling, picks up dog hair, dirt, grit - PERFECT! Cons: None
I am the vacuum queen as I have tried more vacuums, and returned more vacuums than should be legal. Everything from Dyson to self-propelled wind tunnels, and many in between. I have multiple health issues, including a bad back and no vacuum seemed to be good at picking up dirt and dog hair, and easy to use.
That is until I bought the Eureka Boss Smart Vac Ultra, and boy, am I impressed! This is one great vacuum that won't be returned. Right out of the box, this little humdinger picked up dirt and hair that the $350.00+ vacuums left behind. The Power Paw is awesome, and I am thrilled. Now I can rest at night knowing someone out there is making a decent vacuum. I most highly recommend this machine - it is as close to perfect as a vacuum can be.
Pros: Great suction, light weight, takes regular bags Cons: wish cord was longer
I just got one of these as our third vacuum. I read the reviews and found it at Best Buy for $62--a steal! It's really nice. We have a high end Eureka canister and an electrolux canister. It's light and does a very nice job.
Pros: Price, lightweight, stair vacuuming, awesome power, easy bag removal/replacement Cons: Shorter than average cord
After reading the reviews here, at Consumer Reports and Amazon.com, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Hoover U5140-900 vacuum. I rarely am so pleased with a product that I take the time to post a review -- that's how impressed I am with this vacuum cleaner.
First it has excellent sucking power, it's lightweight, easy to push. Does a great job on my medium high pile carpet (a little less so on hardwood floors), has very good edge pickup. What I was really looking for was something powerful to vacuum my stairs and I found it with this vacuum. The attachments are more than sufficient. Bags are easy to replace and purchase. Overall, one of the best household appliance buys I've ever made.
FYI, I purchased from Amazon and got free shipping - what a deal!
Pros: Efficient, cost effective, compact, and excellent on pet hair. Cons: On/off switch not on the handle.
We had new whole house carpet installed and wanted to help maintain our investment. We've never been impressed with our Oreck, or the Kirby before it. Dyson, Electrolux, etc. are awfully proud of their products (pricey). I read some very positive consumer reviews and comparisons on the Hoover U5140. While we've had our unit only a few weeks, for the money, it has been a joy. Our yellow lab is a chronic shedder and this unit is meticulous when it comes to picking up pet hair. It's powerful suction stands carpet pile upright and it pretty much drives itself, requiring little effort to maneuver. It's heavier than the Oreck, but much lighter and manageable than our old Kirby and many others on the market. The cord hook near the handle is a helpful addition. Complaints about cord and hose lengths are legitimate, but tolerable. Issues with not being able to disable the agitator for smooth floors are trifling. I, for one, would have liked to see the on/off switch on the handle, not on the bag housing. But for basic, overall performance and price it's a keeper.
Pros: 74 PLUS TAX MY GOODNESS SUCH A DEAL. Cons: Cord shorter than usual Some what loud
First I'd like to mention I've operated a cleaning service for 20 yrs and have had my fair share of vacuum's. With that said ; this review is strictly business oriented regarding everyday use of product.
I found this product to be so easy to put together.
Hose : not to big nor to cheap.
Many on board tools. and 2 extra extension's for more length.
Suction : AWESOME !
Light enough to maneuver without much stress.
Works so good on flat surface flooring.
I found very little kick back from rollers
or Dust in air . "a real plus :-)"
Height adjuster for carpet works wonderful.
Very durable an straight forward product
without all the bells an whistles. Totally gets the job done .
For the price it can't be beat! by KevMorris ,Mar 05 '08
Pros: Powerful. Inexpensive. Cons: No extra features or options. Attachment hose kind of short.
This is a superior lightweight vacuum that only costs around $65. No other vacuum comes close at that price point.
It has good suction power, is reasonably quiet for a vacuum. It cleans my carpet so I can't see any dirt on it. It comes with some nice attachments.
There are definitely compromises. The hose isn't very long. The beater brush can't be stopped. But again, for this price point, it is a superior value.
Pros: Incredible suction power!! Cons: Hose could be a bit longer, but for $70, who cares?
I'm a complete vacuum snob and think most of them out there are crap. After spending many hundreds of dollars on various vacuums, including bagless, which is a total gimmick and a total mess, by the way....I read the reviews on the Hoover Tempo and decided to give it a try. It has UNBELIEVABLE suction!! I've never had a vacuum this powerful and that includes the ones that I've owned that have cost over $500...I paid $69.99 for the Tempo Wide Path at Best Buy. I almost never recommend anything....I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this vac!
Great suction but hose is too stiff by baileygal ,Nov 16 '07
Pros: Great suction, Good vacuum for the money Cons: Short, stiff hose
I do like this vacuum cleaner - it has great suction but the hose is too stiff and doesn't stretch out long enough to do the job. It doesn't lock well, so I have had it come off the vacuum - but apart from that, I am very pleased with how well it cleans my carpet. I have 4 birds, who make quite a big mess, so this is really handy!
This vacuum will not last long by unhoover ,Dec 25 '07
Pros: Good vacuum when its new. Cons: Requires constant Hoover Service Center visits.
This is the second Hoover model in the past two years. The first model broke due to a defect and was replaced free of charge. The second vacuum requires more service than an automobile. Each vacuum lasted less than one year before major repair work was required. Each vacuum came with 10 spare bags and each vacuum broke down before using its third bag over the life of the vacuum.
My first hoover lasted 15 years and I wished hoover built them like they were in 1980. I would be happy to pay another $ 100.00 for a better built vacuum. I don't see how Hoover can stay in business.
Pros: The bag is easy to change. Cons: Especially horrible on pet hair, will ball it up but not take it away.
I am baffled at the high ratings I see for this vacuum, especially from Consumer Reports, which was one of the reasons I bought it. It agitates so hard, it abrades carpet and rug fibers, leaving what looks like dust bunnies all over the carpet, then spews every bit of dirt, leaf or pebble out the back. Even with repeated passes you cannot pick everything up. This is the only vacuum I've ever used where the carpet looks worse after you vacuum than it did before. Seriously, save your money.
Pros: Good price. Powerful. Cons: Flexible hose too short. Inconvenient switch location. Cannot shut off floor brush.
Very good price for a very powerful vacuum. I think it's at least as powerful as my 275.00 Windtunnel. And quieter too. But has some minor flaws - on/off switch is not convenient to reach; flexible hose is too short; the floor brush keeps rotating when you use the accessories. But for the price, I can live with the flaws.
I like bagged vacuums - they hold more before having to be changed. Seems like I was always emptying my bagless. And bagless is dustier when emptying. Altho finding a lost screw is easier with the bagless. You'd have to put a nylon stocking over the suction tube on the bagged.
Warranty claim process is a nightmare - stay away by tchan ,Sep 24 '09
Pros: Cheap. Light weight. Cons: Failed after on month. Hoover will not honor their warranty. Stay away.
Bought vacuum in December 2008. Vacuum worked fine for a little bit and then the motor started to slow down. It eventually stopped altogether. I had to unplug it for a little while before it would work again. Could not vacuum whole house without unplugging it several times. Sent vacuum at my expense to service center listed on Hoover's website in January 2009. I've been waiting for a response ever since. In March and April 2009, the service center said my vacuum had been repaired, but they had to be reimbursed first from Hoover before they sent my vacuum back to me. Now the service center doesn't return any calls or answer their phone. After I called Hoover customer service, they said I had to take it up with the service center even though the service center is listed on Hoover's website. Hoover's warranty and customer service are amazingly poor.
