Pros: Good food in the cafeteria Cons: Lousy service, small rooms, too cool for you, loud bar scene
There is trendy, and there is the Hudson Hotel. Many hotels in New York aim to be too cool and trendy, but the Hudson Hotel is the worst of these. At no point during my recent stay did I feel as though anyone cared that I was there. In ...
Pros: Cool furnishings, cool bar, good location Cons: Small, lack of storage space, tiny bathroom.
Like several of the reviewers here, I came upon the Hudson as part of a deal on a travel site. In my case, it was a flight plus hotel deal on Hotwire. I was coming to New York for a conference at the Grand Hyatt in Midtown and to watch the US Open ...
Pros: location, decor, fun bars and restaurant on site Cons: teeny rooms
I have stayed at the Hudson several times and loved it. I was surprised to find so many negative reviews. I think the trick to liking it is knowing what to expect. The hotel is just a few blocks from FAO Schwarz and Fifth Avenue shopping so is ideal ...
Pros: Clean Room, Refreshing decor. "Cafeteria" Restaurant has a great breakfast. Cons: TINY ROOM. BADLY PLACED DATAPORT AND HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS PORTS.
We had to go to New York City on business last week. Being from Manhattan and having stayed in many hotels there as well, I decided to stay at the Hudson because it attracted my attention in a brochure I received from the Ian Schrager hotel group a...
Pros: The sheets are nice.
Cab drivers know how to find it. Cons: Abysmal service.
Unbelievably small rooms.
Advertised amenities unavailable.
There are few words in the English language not falling in the obscenity category to describe the wretchedness of a stay at Hudson. Avoid it like the plague, unless you plan to suggest it to your ex-wife or your IRS auditor.
Pros: Excellent Study of Design in Small Spaces Cons: Small, Tiny, Teeny, Microscopic and DIRTY, Gross Hallways
My first impression upon arriving at the Hudson Hotel was "Wow." From the funky/chic lime green entrance up the escalator into the huge lobby area with the holographic chandeliers. I was sure I would enjoy this ultra-modern deco hotel. We got ...
Pros: Super-trendy lobby Cons: Not much else: small, inconvenient rooms with bad service
It's easy to expect very little from a Manhattan hotel room: a little space, a clean bathroom, and service that doesn't make you want to run and hide. Still, Hudson delivers on none of those. It's stylish, sure, but style only goes so far: sooner or ...
Pros: Stylish design, nice bar with great cocktails, outdoor terrace with fab views and comfy rooms. Cons: Huge (1000 rooms), Can be a tad loud, rooms and bathrooms are quite small.
I booked the Hudson hotel on Expedia for a last minute weekend holiday in New York. I didn't know anything about it but they had special rates on offer and I'd heard of Ian Schrager so I figured 'How bad can it be?'. After I'd booked (and pre-paid) I had...
I spent a week at the Hudson in January of 2001. My company had it's annual meeting here and I was the organizer of the event. My dealings with the Hudson staff were very positive up until the time I arrived at the hotel. Boxes I had shipped in...
Pros: Awesome look, great bars, cool elevator music Cons: Teeny rooms, poor services, overpriced
I recently took a business trip to New York and my company reserved a room at the Hudson. When I looked on-line to scope out the hotel's features, I was excited to see a hotel like I had never seen before. I had high hopes for my trip, until my ...
Pros: Convenient. Great location. Nice decor. Cons: Some will find the rooms way too small.
This is a place that you will either really love, or really hate.
The room is sleek, minimalistic, stylish, and very small. In terms of space, it compares to a small cabin on a cruise ship. The bathroom is just big enough to use, and would be...
Pros: Good choice if your only need is to get into a trendy bar. Cons: Traffic noise keeps you up all night and rooms are extremely small & dark.
I've stayed in a number of mid-town hotels over the last ten years and all have been enjoyable. Some pluses and a few minuses but overall each one has been comfortable in its own way. Unfortunately, the Hudson does not come close to the others.
...
Pros: Beautiful lobby
Lots of nightlife options
Proximity to Central Park Cons: Horrible accommodations
"Too good for you" staff
Everyone trying too hard to be hip
Let's go by category: Common areas: The hotel itself is an architectural dream. There are many areas with different motifs. There is a billiard room/pub, a futuristic bar, a cafeteria/picnic table restaurant, an outdoor cafe, and others. All are ...
Pros: Great NYC location, clean, with comfortable beds Cons: Everything else - teeny tiny rooms, rude waitstaff, noisy lobby, TOO COOL FOR YOU!
When I traveled to New York City in December of 2006, I needed to find a hotel to stay at for the night that I arrived. I chose the Hudson hotel based on it's fabulous location and a slamming rate for the night I needed to check in. Have you ever ...
Pros: The staff, lobby, lounge and food at the restaurant. Cons: The room size and bathroom.
I have been to the Hudson twice, once for the night with my wife and once for a meeting with friends, I enjoyed myself both times.
My wife and I recently stayed the night and we both enjoyed the lobby, bar and restaurant. The staff was quite nice and helpful. The room was small but I found it comfortable. My only complaint was the bathroom. It was an attempt to be cool but whoever did the tile work had no idea what they were doing. After every shower the floor was soaked. I understand the rooms are being renovated so I hope they are fixing this issue.
