Pros: Hard to beat quality in a very low price Cons: Still a somewhat basic pad geared towards the novice
When I first saw Itechs 4.8 goal pads, I was surprised to see how improved they were over previous models from the company. Itech still makes a pretty broad range of models in goalie equipment that run the gambit from pure street gear to near pro ...

Pros: lightweight, inexpensive, look hot, good for league play Cons: no toe strap, Pro players-buy a better set of pads
I play in a local adult league and love these. Yes, they aren't pro level pads, but I ain't playing against pro level players :) I picked them up for about $200 on ebay, so the price made it a no brainer. I had a friend tell me, after I ordered them, ...

Great First Pad!
by pstahley ,Mar 25 '06
Pros: Excellent graphics, best entry-level pad, quality materials and construction, not a pro-pad = inexpensive, toe-ties! Cons: Stigma of ITECH equipment, not a pro-pad = not all features, small knee lift
I bought these pads because I had just started playing ice hockey (from roller) and my 1980's era nylon AeroFlo Custom's weren't cutting it. A quick note: I actually have the 4.8 Vamp, a newer model essentially identical to the X-factor, excepting the graphics and some new improvements.
I was in school, and they were very cheap compared to everything else I could find. I didn't expect much, to be honest, from any "cheap" starter leg pads. However, I saw these 4.8's in NYC on sale for around $200, picked them up and admired the construction. They are not anywhere near as poorly built as many people claimed. Itech has really stepped it up in the last few years, especially if you remember that their old pads were pretty much only plastic street hockey ones....
Sure, a pro-level features are not included, especially in the leg channel "accessory" department but have held out very well for recreational (Division 7 and 8, or D level) adult ice hockey.
As a final note, the Vamps (the model I have) have a different graphics package, and are actually very cool looking.

Cheep Pads
by t_fisher ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: I can't think of any. Cheep price? Cons: Too much to list
I bought these pads, tried them once and took them back the next day. These pads are cheep!!! That is all I can say.
THe workmanship and material is cheep. They may be fine if you are using them for road hockey but anything more than a ball would be suicide.
The pads are cheep, wait I said that already. I ran into another goalie who was using them in a senior league and he said he feels the shots and they have a hard time drying. I guess that was all he could afford.
There are better pads out there if you look for a little more cash. I ended up purchasing Hespeler A9's and these things are awsome. But hey thats another review.
Stay away from these pads. I would hate to see people get ripped of or worse yet get seriously hurt.
