Pros: Mini CD-R burner, playback of WMA, WAV and MP3 audio files, small size. Cons: No CD-RW support, proprietary ill fitting battery.
My Buying Decision.
My work requires me to travel extensively and make multimedia presentations to clients. Occasionally I add small funny video clips into the presentations, when I know it will be a rough audience. This means I need to carry...
Pros: Burner, portable drive, mini-CDs, compact, sturdy Cons: short battery life, cd read fail, charging method
The Imation RipGo! is one of the best ideas to hit consumer electronics. I wasn't part of the first wave to purchase the item but I jumped on board last year. There are many great uses but some annoying faults to the device.
Pros: Good Playback quality Cons: Poor fabrication quality; battery went dead ; no Mac OSX support
I read an article in a magazine that talked about all the virtues of the RipGO; portability, ability to burn mini-CD's, good sound. In theory all this is true.
In practice, it's another matter! RipGo has major fabrication quality problems:...
Pros: External, portable CDRW drive and player, unique, compatibility Cons: Poor battery life, limited support, died early
I don't have a CDRW drive or an MP3 player so I thought this would be a great way to kill two birds with one stone. Mine worked for a while and I was happy with it since I got a deal on ebay. But the batter pack never fit securely into the player. I taped it on. Then the battery life was very short and pretty much decreased to nothing over a couple months of regular, but very limited use. To top it off, when I tried to burn only my second disc, the player wouldn't write. So I sent it in to Imation for diagnosis and repair (it was out of warranty so they were very nice to look at it for me). But they found nothing wrong. When I got it back it still didn't work. I chalked it up to a loss. A year later my boyfriend got me a Minidisc player. I would've gotten one originally if I hadn't found the RipGo with it's upload capabilities. However that died on me too. Maybe moving parts are just a bad idea. I think I'll go for an MP3 player now.
