JVC Flash Memory Digital Camcorder is great
by tonywong ,Apr 19 '05
Pros: compact, good quality, easy to use, Cons: software sucks, flash is below the lens, quality of still photos below average, expensive
This is a well designed and well built camcorder. I am extremely happy about its performance. There is not a lot of information on the web about it before my purchase. I did not get a lot of photos on the products nor did I get a lot of product review on it. When it arrived, I opened the box and found it exactly as I have expected. Small, yet simple in operation. All controls fall in the most logical places. Takes excellent quality video and medium quality still photos. I bought this to replace my old 8 mm Sony camcorder. I don't want to have anything to do with tapes. I have considered the Panasonic D-Snap SV-AV100, but I don't like it as it comes with 512 MB SD card.(no enough memory). Flash below the lens creates funny shadows. The flash should be placed above the lens. The software that comes with the camcorder, "Cyberlink Master Producer" and "Master Director" don't work very well. The programs died on me many times when processing large files. Image stabilization does not work very well when the telephoto lens is fully extended.
