Pros: Comfortable and discreet Cons: Volume controls are are a little difficult to find and use.
I believe the performance of the headset is directly related to the phone in which it is paired. I replaced my BT250v with the BT500. Jabra headsets tend to fit my ear very well, and do not make my ear hurt after wearing for hours. I use the headset ...
Pros: Excellent sound comfortable for people with large ears, dedicated paring, excellent battery life Cons: Large by today's standards
I have this Jabra BT500 and a Motorola H700 headset and I greatly prefer the Jabra. I have large ears and the Jabra's around the ear design works perfectly for me. The sound quality is excellent both in listening and in speaking. The unit has a dedicated ...
Pros: Around the ear and not on top of it Cons: Controls not well marked.
I never wanted to be one of those Trekkie-looking people with the Bluetooth headset attached to my ear jabbering on the phone. Then I ended up with a Blackberry, which is a great e-mail device and a fairly cumbersome telephone. So it made sense then ...
Pros: Light weight, good fit, excellent volume Cons: Perspiration and humid conditions disable it.
I bought the Jabra largely because of the eargel which actually fits into the ear canal. This was important to me because I could not hear my callers when I used wireless headsets such as the Moto H500 which sit on top of the ear. I purchased the ...
Pros: Good sound quality in quiet environments, best for helmet users. Cons: Not so good in noisy environments, easy to loose mini gels.
The BT 500 seemsn the best product designed by Jabra. I owned the BT250 and BT250v (and many other BT headsets) and the BT500 is probably among the best, considering the hard-to-find and expensive Gennum NxZen 5500 (also reviewed here) as a benchmark for ...
Pros: Comfortable. Relatively inexpensive (but...) Cons: Performance (or lack of). BT connection lost at 4 ft (or left pocket).
New law says no hand-held and car has no BT so it's time to get something. Since I never call from car and only rarely answer I was looking for something reasonably inexpensive - BT500 at $34 qualified. There were many good reviews elsewhere (but some ...
BT500 poor followup to BT250v by daraguy ,Jan 18 '07
Pros: I like the design and fit of earpiece Cons: NOT an improved product over BT250v
I am disappointed in the performance of what should be the improved successor to BT250v that after only a month of use I am looking at replacements.
The comfort & secure fit of this style appeals to me so I upgraded when BT250 stopped charging fully. As they have both been used with same phone (Samsung t629) I have a great basis of comparison. With BT500 I get constant loss of connection with bluetooth signal. It picks up way too much outside sound and people just have a hard time hearing me. Recently caller kept saying sound was crackly. I suspect that Jabra found a way to make a cheaper phone then put it in a sleeker package. Still a lousy phone.
Pros: Size Cons: HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE. NOT AS GOOD AS BT250.
The above reviewer is dead wrong. I have been a very happy BT250 user and have recommended that unit to lots of people. Everyone is thrilled with the BT250's performance.
I needed to replace my 250 so I went the next step and bought this unit. BIG MISTAKE.
Since using it; everyone has complained about background noise, hiss, poor reception.
Pros: Light weight, nice fit and can be worn comfortably for long periods. Cons: Poor quality control, unreliable, defective component
I like the headset, but Jabra needs to do something about the quality control. I have had two of these headsets breakdown on me within 7 months. The first one no longer accepted a charge after 4 months. Jabra replaced it under warranty, but the second one quit charging up after 3 months. There is clearly a known defect in this product.
Pros: Comfortable on the ear Cons: Can only be worn for jewelry
Got a very prompt replacement for my DOA BT500 from Newegg. However, the replacement suffered the same fate. Plugged in the charger & no response. No charge indicator light, red or green. Left it plugged in several hours anyway, and it still would not turn on. They need to shut the factory in China till they get the QC problem fixed.
Its great when it works...Don't buy it by sumdumgi ,Jul 20 '07
Pros: Good quality sound on both ends, snug to face, comfortable Cons: Not loud enough for me when on highway.
Problematic, Customer service
I bought my unit approx 2 months ago. It is comfortable and the sound is clear. I have had no problems with people complaining about noise while on the highway or outside. No echo complaints either. My complaint, and it is huge, is that it has quit working twice after charging, the first time was after 5 weeks of use. Sent it in and they didn't send it back for 12 days. Thats a long time to wait. When I got it back I charged it and used it for about two hours and started getting a low charge tone...after I had fully charged it!!! Then I charged it again, pulled it off the charger and it was dead again!!! I only used it for 2 hours! Sent Jabra email to support over 3 days ago complaining and they have not responded. The site says they will respond in 2 days...I normally wouldn't complain about 3 days vs 2 but after all these issues it is fair to expect better treatment.
Update 11/14/07
It died again. Very poor reliability.
This is a great Headset by bluethunder91 ,Nov 14 '07
Pros: Plays the music player songs, comfortable, comes with all accessories. Cons: I'd like to have a replaceable battery option.
I've owned this BT500 Headset for almost a year and it has been great. I use it with my Razr 3XX phone. It has a good range, clear sound, and is comfortable. It comes with a couple of mini gels so you can adjust it for comfort and if you need a louder sound use the longer gel. It also came with a desktop charger and USB charger which covers me at home and work. I discovered that it will play the phones music player and the sound quality is good. This comes in handy when traveling. I do have to charge it every couple of days but it really depends on use. The only thing I would like is a replaceable battery option. Other then that, it works great and I recommend it to a friend.
Just got the headset the other day and couldn't wait to try it out after the initial charge.. Right away it paired with my phone V710. No problems there.. The clarity of incoming and outgoing calls is the best I've heard so far. I've tried some nokia headsets and motorola's and this beat them to a pulp. Backround noise (which seems to be a problem with these style headsets) is barely noticeable. It's very lightweight and has several gel earpieces to ensure a great fit. The buttons take a little getting used to, but after a few minutes becomes very natural..
Mute function is barely usable by mdedina ,Jul 17 '07
Pros: Inexpensive. Beyond that, I stopped evaluating after finding the MUTE problem. Cons: The MUTE function is practically unusable.
I bought this headset for two reasons: 1) it has a MUTE function on the headset, and 2) it was inexpensive ($30 from Fry's). I tried it out this morning on a conference call. Boy was I surprised to find out that THE HEADSET BEEPS CONSTANTLY WHEN IT IS ON MUTE! It beeps about every 5 seconds. The beeps are about a half second or so in length. This was enough to obscure the conversation I was trying to listen to.
I looked in the manual and sure enough, this is not a defect, they did it on purpose. And there is no way to turn the beeping off. What were they thinking?!
I attend a lot of conference calls. I need to be on MUTE most of the time, but I need to UNMUTE quickly from time to time without fishing around for the phone. This headset is not going to work for me. I'll be returning it to Fry's today.
Pros: small and easy to use! Cons: doesn't work very well!
I couldn't wait to get my latest phone so I could have bluetooth. This headset has been very very bad. Everyone complains about the noises, even if I am sitting inside my house. If I move my phone more than 5 feet away it gets worse. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with my purchase.
