Pros: Great looking. Cons: Tabs on crisper drawers get hung up most times when closing drawer.
I knew when I was purchasing this refrigerator that I was going to have to adjust to a less accessible freezer than I was used to. I preferred the GE profile bottom freezer (easier to find things) but I didn't like the door handles on the GE. So I ...
Pros: generally keeps food cold Cons: overpriced for the amounts of headaches it gives me
first: the ice maker stopped working at 11 months. I called and got someone to come out and fix it. He didnt give me a lot of details, but it was working again for about 5 weeks. then it stopped again. I called JennAir and told them and they said it ...
Pros: Modern, clean lines. Great for large platters and trays. Quiet. Cons: Tends to freeze liquid items located in the very back. Sensitive to temp. changes.
I like the look of commercial appliances but didn't want to spend a lot, so I was lucky enough to find this gorgeous Jenn-Air fridge at a fraction of the cost of similar models. The stainless steel surface and elegant towel bar handles with ...
Pros: Efficient layout once gotten used to.
Lower "fruit and Vegatable" VERY useful
Looks Great Cons: Water dispenser requires 2 hands to operate
Bought this refrigerator for new home. Wanted the built in look without the built in price tag. At first was a little concerned that it would be small but it has worked out great, although the layout takes some getting used to if you are moving from a ...
Pros: Looks Great. Nice water dispenser. Nice internal features. Cons: Noisy. Bottom freezer too small. Doors close uneven. Difficult to move.
We purchased a complete set of Jenn-Air appliances for our remodeled kitchen. The refrigerator doors were not closing properly.
The first technician put fender washers in the door hinge of my $2000 refrigerator. At that point, the door closed, but was now uneven with the other door. The technician told me "that's just how it is."
Tech two came and disassembled the doors, put everything back incorrectly, and told me he had to order parts.
Although Jen-Air is marketed as a high-end appliance, trust me, it's not. It is poorly constructed of cheap materials. I wish I could return the whole lot of appliances for a $5300 refund!!
-UPDATE-
I have talked with 4 representatives from Jenn-Air since posting this review. 3 of the four reps have sent incorrect replacement parts overnight.
The forth rep directed me to their secret parts site at http://www.partselect.com (shooosh, don't tell anyone!) where I was able to select and e-mail my parts request. They will be overnighted.
If you love talking and argue on the phone with complete strangers, taking time off work to accommodate their "window of opportunity" and having service technicians visit your home, then buy a Jenn-Air!!!
Should have bought a Sub-Zero by bsmartr1 ,Sep 18 '07
Pros: Looks beautiful, can be customized to match cabinets. Cons: Not roomy, too noisy.
We bought this fridge for the looks and the size, plus it's half the cost of a Sub-Zero, BUT there is no room inside. It's very hard to store anything over-sized or to store many upright bottles/jugs. The bottom freezer drawer holds the bare essentials -- we have an upright freezer in the basement for everything else. Have had this fridge for less than 2 yrs and it now hums so loudly, I can't stand to be in the same room with it. Today may be the day I take it outside and shoot it.
Jenn Air French Door JFC2089HES by jkhklnhbgvgf ,Aug 27 '08
Pros: It looks good from outside Cons: This is the worst fridge I ever had.
I bought the same model. It was a BIG disappointment. It also froze all the food. It makes a sound in the upper shelf like a woodpecker cycling in and out. I really hate this fridge. What a big costly mistake. You cannot really use the top shelf because even set at 42 degree the food freezes. The shelves are so narrow it fills up then freezes the food. Be careful and do your research because there are so many great fridges to choose from. Stay away from this one.
Jenn -Air 2089 French door and associated Maytag products Bad news by rjfk ,May 21 '06
Pros: Styling Cons: Noisy and lousy customer service from Head Office.
I wanted a quiet refrigerator. This wasn't and isn't. From the beginning we had problems. It froze all the food in the refrigerator...not only the freezer. Five visits from the famed Maytag serviceman. The machine couldn't be fixed. Finally asked for a new machine, but head office said they reserved the right to fix ours. Couldn't be fixed, so after 3 months we did get a new machine. It is still noisy, but an improvement on the first. Such bad attitude from head office who apparently have a policy of not taking back machines...so do yourself a favor and check out the competition - that one made in South Korea is quiet and a lot cheaper...I just wish I'd done more research. I really regret this...and I hear it humming, clicking and grinding away all the time - and no! that's not the ice maker because that's not connected yet. So don't buy Maytag®, Hoover®, Jenn-Air®, Amana®, Dixie-Narco®, and Jade®. Maybe things will change with Whirlpool, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Very happy with our Jenn-Air by twsj24 ,Jan 03 '09
Pros: Look, adjustable shelves, speed ice mode Cons: Freezer drawers seem small and flimsy
We spent 16 months building our house and I've found this site very helpful in steering us towards certain products and away from others. Contrary to most reviews of the JFC2098HRE, we are very pleased with the overall value and performance. Yes, it does have a few short comings, but nothing is perfect. The drawers inside the freezer seem flimsy and small compared with other models. To overcome this, we take freezer products out of the box. I really like the stainless commercial look, it goes great with our other appliances. The amount of space in the refrigerator is adequate for a family of four. I will say that we have a beverage refrigerator under our island. That helps in keeping soda, beer, wine, etc out of the Jenn-Air.
Overall I'm happy with the Jenn-Air. If money was no object I would have gone with the Thermador system - very nice, but crazy expensive.
Cons: Rusting of outside after 3 years. The icemaker. Refrigerator space.
I have had alot of trouble with this refrigerator. The icemaker is tempramental. The outside of the stainless steel doors have rusted. I did buy an extended plan and anything cosmetic is not covered. I can't believe this refrigerator is only 3 years old--we also have trouble with our Jenn Air grill. Will not buy anything Jenn Air again. When talking with customer service about this they offered 15% on another--what are they kidding?
