Pros: Clean sounding bass, VERY durable, can keep up with fast, or deep bass beats. Cons: A little expensive
I had this subwoofer installed as part of a whole system replacement in my 2001 Grand Am. While it sounds a heck of a lot better than the stock system....which didn't even HAVE a subwoofer, I have to say, it sounds great on the inside of the car, but don' ...
Pros: Excellent sound quality, very good spl, modest power requirements Cons: none
Sometimes it's easy to get jaded when it comes to subwoofers. The specs and features tend to be very similiar till they begin to blend together from brand to brand. I was that way, I bought this sub simply to match brand with my mid/highs (which, BTW,...
Pros: Sound Quality, performance for price Cons: Haven't found any yet
I have a 10W3 V2 in a Stealthbox enclosure for a 98 Chevy Silverado. The sub is located in the center counsel. All I can say is that I was blown away the first time I heard my system with the sub installed. I listen to all types of music from rap to...
Pros: Bass you can feel from a block away! Cons: It's not a W7
The JL Audio W3 series is their second best sub and that is to the W7 which is five times the price. I have two of these bad boys in a Power Wedge box. The box is sealed and is powered by a 600 watt crossfire amp. I have this in my truck and they pound...
Pros: Beautiful articulate Bass Cons: Not the loudest thing you've ever heard
For the price, JL makes some of the best subwoofers around. The 10W3 being one of the best in price/performance ratio.
Tight accurate bass, articulating every little strum of that bass guitar.
I just wanted to point out what a terd the guy is that first reviewed this speaker is. Im sure if you wanna win a Iasca event you'll probably want a better sub that can compete. For the average joe, the JL AUDIO 10W3v2-D4 is a perfect speaker.. you'll love it. I have yet to meet anyone who hasn't been satisfied.
Pros: Pounding bass in any enclosure Cons: Better at lower frequencies - not all around
I've always been a fan of JL's deep-bass subwoofers and have two in my 2004 Dodge SRT4. Even the smaller diameters respond well to mid and low frequencies - the 10W3 is no different. In a sealed enclosure, they pound while offering low end response. They are powered by a Fosgate 500a2 bridged and take every bit of power. I'm truly impressed with JL's 10" offerings - I may never switch back to Kicker. As for reliability, I've been driving them hard for over 4 years and not a single problem.
poor in both sq and spl by audiphilenut ,Oct 22 '03
Pros: none Cons: poor sound quality at high volumes, weak xmax, low displacement factors
About 2 years ago I competed in Iasca iDBL and SQ, a heard thing to do considering you need to run one or the other, I 2 10w3 d4's in 1.5cf vented enclosure per sub, I had a pure true 400rms to each subwoofer, lets just say the sub could not perform, it only reached at full a 138.6 on a tight a/c mic. It was atleast decent sounding, the bass considering the power was not horrible distorted. Next I attempted to run it an sq enclosure, i did an above size average box, to enhance the lower frequency repsonse and gain of the subs, typically in hopes of being able to feel 18hz notes as part of the judging, my subwoofer rating was a 4/10 :/ meaning below average, in possibly one of the best sq boxes the sub could be used in. And no I did not over power the sub for the rating it was ran at 1/3-1/4 gain on the ampflier to level out the spl to the spl and clearity of the speakers. For the price; however, there are much better subs on the market
jl 10 w3 was love at first bass note.they performed like all the hype about them said they would "they all that"! I tried other woofers supossedly in the same class and with high output amps they stayed out of my trunk being replaced more than in.Dealers kept saying distortion was the main cause but they would give me woofers with higher rms. I finally got wise and got the real deal dem W'3s and they made my system complete all but ear plugs hadem 2 years never blowed em and still gotem i recomend them to every one who wants to be done with buying subs for good!
