Purchased my John Deere GT tractor in May 01, and this weekend June 04 the engine gasket blew, but it maybe more since I haven't got it back yet. To say I am not a happy camper is an understatement.

I changed the oil, greased and sharpened the blades monthly. But the GT tractor still blew out the gasket, leaked oil and smoked like crazy. A neighbor down the road had the same problem with his GT Tractor.

So before you fall in love with your John Deere GT tractor, make sure you have a few hundred dollars in your bank account for repairs.

Hm, I bought the tractor new in '03. It's now 07'. There are 86 hours on the tractor. It's been to two different local John Deere dealers for service, a little too frequently. B&S 16hp motor. 23" rear tires (ground engaging capabilities here folks). I can't get it to run for two to three days straight. I can't get it to start two or three times in a row since I've owned it. It's a crap shoot if the thing will fire up. Countless days of frustration when I just wanted to mow the lawn and do some things that a small tractor would be really good at. No dice. No service is not good service. No warranty worth it's weight in .. anything.
