Pros: Well priced for tractor class, well built, many attachments offered Cons: Fuel fillcap position, Poor design of bushel rear bagger attachment and parts, expensive parts replacement
My decision to purchase the L120 tractor was based on having a piece of equipment that would be capable of cutting my lawn well and provide additional options via attachments. The day I walked into the John Deere dealership, the owner asked me one ...
Pros: Best of the medium priced tractor available Cons: Make front bumper standard, Put gas filler on left rear fender.
I bought the L-120 after having a terrible time with a Sears Craftsman model 270771. I decided this time I would buy from the dealer and see if I had better luck. This tractor has exceeded my expectations with no problems after 75 hours of use. ...

I purchased my L130 tractor about 3 weeks ago. I bought it from Home Depot. Many people prefer to purchase from a "true" John Deere dealer.I think they are afraid of warranty issues if purchased elsewhere. That doesnt seem to be a problem here. One week ...
The John Deere L series was developed as a low end machine to sell at Home Depot. They are also available for the same price, at John Deere Dealers. Being a Service Manager at a dealership, I know what is and is not durable. If you have ...
Pros: Excellent job, very dependable, fair price Cons: NONE
First things first. John Deere makes a good tractor. This tractor will serve you very well if....you buy it for its intended use. The L series tractors are a lower end machine in the John Deere line. They are to serve primarily as lawn mowers. Don't ...
Pros: Deere quality, smooth ride, great power and looks Cons: None quite yet...maybe the gas cap location
I just picked up two new 2004 L120s at Home Depot. I was a little skeptical about the machine before I bought it given all of the people that love to spread disinformation on the internet about the L series tractors being cheap rip-offs not worthy of ...
I was originally attracted to the L120 by the price and because it was a John Deere. Foolish me. I purchased the unit in March of 2004. The mower deck is a nightmare. It exit flow of the grass is not sufficient. As a result there is a lot of build ...
Pros: NONE Cons: Very expensive to fix, Poor customer service, Doesnt last for price, Poor quality
I was told to buy a Deere, I should have bought something else.I purchased the L120 June 2003 at Home Depot, I use it for 2.5 acres and this was my 4th summer to use it. I have just over 130 hours on it and the "transmission" went out. I don't use it for ...
Pros: Plenty of power in a small package, moves huge snow! Cons: Assembly of plow is time consuming.
I purchased my John Deere L118 in late 2005. I did a ton of research but basically bought it on price and good looks. My machine has a 22 horse B & G engine. I wanted to stay with a 42" deck because I have a few tight spots in the yard. I passed up a ...

I have been a mechanic on John Deere tractors for years now. My company was contracted by Home Depot to fix the "L" series. I worked on many of them myself and want to let you know what I've found about this model. For the price you can't even ...
Pros: Looks nice, great power Cons: Expensive, hard to change drive belts, unreliable transmission & engine, expensive to own
I thought I'd cut to the brass tacks and save some folks some time & money. These "Deere's" are NOT made to be near as durable as other's. I have had my L-130 now for two years & about 140 hours. I have babied this thing like mad having spent $2600.00 on ...
Pros: Do not know it has never been run long enough! Cons: I paid 2600 dollars for it!

Pros: Comfortable, easy to operate, many dealers to service, great reputation Cons: Recurring defective spindles, bad treatment by repair dealer

The L Series "A great tractor" by jimbo68 ,Feb 14 '06
Pros: Smooth hydro transmission and a great even cut. Cons: None noticed at this time.
Own the L111. Great tractor. Good V Twin power. Great even cut. Despite what you see on comparing the L series with the LT and LX, you need to do some research yourself before you choose one over the other. The L series and the LT use the very same transmission, a Tuff Torq 46A. They both have bushings in the front cast iron axle, and if the frame is heavier in the LT, it is not apparent from the weight comparison. Dry weight, L120 - 532 lbs, LT180 - 509lbs. L111 - 520lbs, LT160 - 399lbs. This is not to bash the LT series tractors, great product. It is a matter of what you need for the job you have at hand.
