John Deere Lawn Tractor

Pros: If it didn't smoke it would be a good machine.
Cons: Smokes since new. No fix after six years of dealing with factory and dealer.

I've had the machine for about six years. It smoked when they backed it off the truck when new. They said it would be OK.

They overhauled the engine the first year. It still smoked.

They replaced the short block the second year. It still smoked. I fumed, they said it's OK.

Wrote to the factory, worked with the dealer and finally gave up. It still smokes upon start up, sometimes. It's just like it was when new.

I give up!!!!!!!!!

Pros: works well when it runs
Cons:  a disposable tractor,  very expensive to repair and not designed for the long term

having had a l130 lawn tractor of a couple of years now and preformed regular maintenance it has been relatively free a defects at least until now. I had a small gear in the transmission fail. as far a i can see it was due to the lack of correct shims and the gear not meshing correctly. Not a big deal i thought, easy to replace not so. this small gear is unavaible and the only way to repair the transmission is to replace it. so rather than a $10 part  you have a $800 part. Need less to say this is anything but green and environmentally friendly.
