Pros: Every dish was perfect! Cons: Table facing bathroom, reluctance to take order in advance, not the best service.
I convinced the powers-that-be to have our office holiday party at a restaurant instead of the usual in-house shin-dig. I've always wanted to try John's Pizzeria. The pretty dark blue awning adorned with delicate white "Chistmas" lights always ...
Pros: Old school feel, fresh ingredients. Cons: Tough, burnt crust. Uncomfortable seating.
First off, my friends consider me an expert on good food, especially within New York City, so listen carefully. I was roaming the village alone one sunny afternoon in the fall and I stumbled upon John's of Bleecker Street Pizza. (278 Bleecker ...
Pros: the best thin crust pizza in NYC baked with real fire! Cons: can't get in between 7-11 pm w/out a wait. But line chat is fun sometimes.
The quintessential village pizza parlor, down to the pictures of Neil Armstrong moonwalking and President Kennedy's portrait. There used to be only the one dining room, then there were 2, then 3, now they're back to 2. Try to get a booth in the old ...
Pros: Just to say you stood in a long line to experience their pizza. Cons: Waiting in a long line for soggy, mediocre, gimmicky pizza.
I went several times to John's Pizza (between 1999-2003): to their original restaurant and to their branch in the Theater District. THE FOOD: The pizza was soggy, even when I requested it to be "well done". All the pizzas I've had there would have be ...
Pros: Delightfully thin crust good sauce to cheese ratio Cons: its in manhatten and nowhere else
The best pizza ever. Without a doubt. I've been eating at John's since I was a little kid. My parents used to take me there after I would meet them at work. The style of pizza there has shaped what I consider good pizza to this day.
Pros: Terrific pizza in an old NY atmosphere with jukeboxes Cons: You may have to wait; menu pretty limited
If the line sprawls out onto Bleecker Street, you may not want to wait, but they do move you along and once you're inside, you feel you're part of the old, New York experience. You expect Frank Sinatra to sing from the jukebox. The wood floors, booths,...
Pros: Best pizza in New York (maybe the world) Cons: Occasionally long waits outside
Everybody knows New York is the world's best city for pizza, and John's Pizzeria is the best of the best, hand's down.
The food:
Coal-brick oven pizza with any number of toppings, John's pizza is pure magic. The tomato sauce is high quality...
Pros: spacious setting Cons: u can't go there everyday
This is a great surprise! I was in the City with my family and we found this place, from the outside it looks like a little typical NYC style pizzaria, but its really and old church. it is huge!! which is ver very rare for a restaurant in midtown....
Pros: The Best Pizza Anywhere! Cons: There can be lines to get in.
John's Pizzeria, (278 Bleeker Street between 6th and 7th Avenues) has got to be the best pizza in New York City, if not the world! The restaurant has a 1950's pizza parlour feel, with a large mural of the bay of Naples painted over the old wooden high...
Pros: theater district location is great atmosphere, great pizza, a real cheap eat. Cons: Limited menu ... pizza, salad, calzone
While the original John's in Greenwich village has the ambiance of a pizza place, in the theater district west 44th street location it is a dining experience ... the renovated victorian church maintains beautiful stained glass windows. It might be a bit...
Pros: Stringy mozzarella, crisp crust, brick oven Cons: Are you kiddin? There's nothing wrong with John's!!!!!
John's Pizzeria serves brick-oven pizza. There are a zillion options. Pizza, pasta, salad, it's Italian heaven! The pizza has a beautiful golden crisp crust. The cheese is well spread out and of high quality. The atmosphere reminds me of Italy....
Pros: The stained glass ceiling. Cons: Pizza would get a negative Star!
SOS = S*** on Shingle..many of you know this term and some don't for those that do not know the original term; its what is known by the US Military who adopted this phrase regarding the not so enticing and edible food...Ladies and Gentleman that is the ...
Pros: Good Pizza Cons: Expensive. Poor Service. Hates Kids.
Listed as kid friendly with great pizza. We were thrown out due to a noisy two year old. John's on 44th is a fairly noisy place and how he managed to be heard over the background noise is a talent only my son seems to have discovered. Staff was not helpful when I asked about options. I was told he was my child to manage. I meant could we be moved to a place that was more noise tolerant or a package of crayons or have our pizza wrapped to go. Instead I got a bill for $90 for pizza and the bum's rush.
