Pros: Price Great consistent results Wide range, from powder fine to very coarse Quiet Low dust Easy to clean Cons: Not the best looking appliance in the kitchen Plastic housing
When I was in college and starting to get into coffee, I used a simple and cheap blade grinder, but my espresso was crap for so many reasons that I could never really just blame my scorched uneven grind.I moved up to a burr grinder that was ...
Pros: Quiet, efficient, easy to use. Low grinding speed doesn't bruise the coffee. Cons: Base design and cord storage leave something to be desired.
After having used a couple of Krups blade grinders for more than 20 years, I decided it was time to take the next step in home coffee preparation. After doing some fairly extensive on-line research, and with the recommendation of an acquaintance, I ...
Pros: Easy to use, works great, looks good! What more could you want! Cons: None.
After intermittent research over the course of several years I decided to buy a Capresso 560 last year. All the reviews I had found for grinders under $250 were mixed, and I didn't want to pay that much. I had so much trouble finding a grinder I wanted ...
Pros: Easy to use and clean; quiet; no static or heat buildup, preserving coffee taste/aroma. Cons: Beans storage hopper won't hold a full pound of coffee.
The Capresso Burr grinder is an excellent grinder for the home espresso user. This grinder produces a consistent grind, with minimal dust, preventing a clogged espresso machine and leading to a cup of espresso with a beautiful crema layer on top. The ...
Pros: attractive, sturdy, intuitive Cons: hopper too small. could use a coarser setting.
I've had my Capresso 560 for two months now and I'm quite pleased with it. It is much more consistent and convenient than my old Krups blade grinder. The grind is very even, but I wish it would go just a little coarser (I use a french press). ...
Pros: Good quality coffee, no mess, convenient to use Cons: Can't think of any
I grind my coffee, both for breakfast and for a mid-day espresso break. I've been using a blade coffee grinder for a few years, finally got tired of the noise and the mess. So I started looking for a good quality burr grinder. Jura/Capresso 560 seems to ...
Pros: Consistent grind, ultra-fine to very coarse settings Cons: Static electricity buildup on some ground beans cause them to fly all over the place
I have used this burr grinder for about two years now. I make coffee from a coffee press, regular drip coffee and Espresso, so I needed a grinder that could grind beans equally well for all three modes of brewing. For a while I was drinking a lot ...
Pros: Speed, simplicity, produces great ground coffee. Cons: Cleaning up is a nightmare.
I've had my Capresso 560 for 3 months. Its virtues include: good price for a conical burr grinder (necessary to produce uniform-sized grains of coffee); simple to use; quick; easy adjustment across a huge spectrum of grain sizes. The Capreso is so good ...
Pros: Even grind. Grinds espresso. Price! Cons: Stopping it mid-cycle.
I purchased this grinder based on the other reviews on epinions and liked the price. I wanted a grinder for espresso, and this one had plenty of settings that went well beyond espresso settings. After using the grinder, I am very impressed with it! It grinds evenly without adding any burnt flavors. No static.
The only thing I wish that it had was a way to stop the grind (before the timer runs out) by turning the timer knob rather than turning the bean hopper.
Pros: Easy to use and maintain. Produces quality grounds. Has adequate storage capacity. Cons: Output hopper assumes a positive charge which causes a few grounds to cling to it.
We have long been discontented with our blade grinder because it didn't have the capacity, was messy to use, and really hadn't provided a good pot of coffee. We bought the Jura-Capresso 560 based on many positive reviews and its value pricing. It has met our every expectation. It has a small footprint, is relatively quiet, has a large bean capacity, is easy to maintain, and most importantly, it consistently delivers quality grounds in a minimum amount of time. The upper whole bean storage hopper holds enough beans for 6-8 pots of coffee, while maintaining freshness. There is a minor issue with static cling (a few taps on the hopper dislodges the grounds). This is more than overcome by Capresso's ability to give efficient results. A few reviewers mention that it's noisy. We find that not a problem. If it is, place it on a samll rubber mat or towel to absorb vibration. A few "purists" say it's difficult to clean. Not an issue. Once a week is more than enough. We have a 10 cup Bunn hot water displacement coffeemaker, use French dark roast beans, setting the grinder to the lowest setting on the medium grind range and the timer on 6.
Pros: Extremely quiet, perfectly uniform grinds, low heat (preserves flavor) no static on grinds...easy clean up! Cons: A bit cheesy looking for the price. I don't care for the timer system
I went through 3 different grinders before I came here, read these reviews and decided to buy this model! I was a bit concerned at the price but after buying and returning the $50 Cuisinart Burr Grinder...I figured what was an extra $20 bucks. This grinder is all you will ever need! Its extremely quiet (well as quiet as a grinder can be) and makes all your grinds a perfect uniform size. It's a very basic design and doesn't have any bells and whistles. It has one job, and it does its job well! Its slow moving motor doesn't heat up the grinds, preserving the flavor and aroma and there is no static build up. I also noticed that there isn't nearly as much coffee dust (if any at all) that I always had with the blade grinder and certainly with the Cuisinart model. In my opinion this is a great coffee grinder!
Yes! This is the one you need by mkm-w ,Aug 27 '06
Pros: Very consistent particle sizes Cons: Could be a little more stylish if that's important to you.
After purchasing several different grinders over the years, I think I have finally found the perfect grinder. Other burr grinders were not only noisy, but would produce a fair amount of powdered coffee along with the desired grind. If you use wire mesh brew cup, this can mean a bit of bitter tasting mud at the bottom of your cup. What a contrast this machine is. We use ours primarily for espresso, so a fine even grind is important and this does the job. It also produces a very nice course grind for your drip units as well. We purchased our Capresso 560 for $89 at a specialty store. Other reviews mention how quiet this machine runs Oh yeah nice feature! This one will leave the job of waking people up in the morning to the java. Thank you Epinions! We purchased this based on the previous reviews.
AVOID - bad customer service by myopinion71 ,May 13 '09
Pros: color Cons: quality customer service is HORRIBLE
This review is simply for the Jura Capresso product.
Capresso DOES NOT honor their warranty. I purchased their product and used it only about 5 times, at which time the plastic bean container broke. I called Capresso customer service and they told me the warranty does not cover that part, BUT the warranty written with the product upon purchase DOES NOT state that this part is not covered. Upon calling the company, I talked to the sales person, then to the CS manager. Capresso's customer service manager, Celeste, did not let me get a word in edgewise and basically did not work with me at all. She was very unfriendly and did not provide a good service to Capresso's customer (me). I would highly suggest that you AVOID this product or any product produced by this company. This supposed high-end unit should not break after 5 uses. Moreover, if it does break, this company should replace the product at not cost.
Capresso 560 Burr Coffee Grinder by rjgeller ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: Relative quiet, easy to use, easy to clean Cons: More expensive than many, but worth the money
This grinder is simple to operate. The coffee grinder basket can hold several days worth of coffee if desired. It is also easy to measure the amount of coffee needed to make 1 pot, and put that in. The fine vs coarse setting can be adjusted in a reasonable range for drip and espresso makers, and will probably be left in one position once you find the one you like.
Some burr grinders have a reputation for putting static charge on the coffee, which then sticks to the sides of the container. Only a minimal amount of coffee adheres to the collection container, which can be removed to fill the coffee maker then replaced easily.
