Pros: Good sound, super durable, paintable, inexpensive Cons: Utilitarian, no full-range adjustment
Every Dolby Digital 5.1 surround system needs a good pair of rear speakers. Finding good ones that mount to the wall and are flexible enough to get the proper alignment can be a challenge. I've been using the very inexpensive KLH 970s for years in my ...
Pros: inexpensive, outdoor usage possible, dynamic for size Cons: None
These were available new for under $30 and I originally purchased them for rear speakers for a surround-sound system. I quickly found they could handle more muscle than that and now use them for a older stereo in another room. Considering their size,...
Pros: Good sound for most users, very compact and durable Cons: Not quite enough bass for my taste, weak connectors
I've owned these KLH speakers for several years now, and I can say without question that these are the best speakers I've ever bought. And they only cost me $5. Huh? Yeah, I found them at a garage sale, minus their brackets, but I didn't need ...
Pros: Excellant for the price. Cons: None for the price.
This speaker comes in a package of 2 for $30. It is self standing, wall mount, hook mount and can be used outside. It is an unbelievable deal for the price. It will not match a professional speaker but I have not yet found a professional center speaker...
Pros: Very cheap, basic black, sound good. Cons: Ohm rating is different from stated specifications.
KLH's advantage has always been good quality at a very low price. These speakers belt out good sound for their size, and though their design is rather dated they are unobtrusive looking which is a good thing. Frequency response is pretty good.
The only caveat is to check the ohm rating of each speaker with a meter. While they claim to be 8 ohms, mine were 3.76 ohms. That could cause problems with amplifiers that are expecting loads of 6 ohms and higher. Yours may be different, check them.
