Pros: Cheap, cheap, cheap! Also, convenient location and clean, simple rooms.
Cons: Bare bones, not a resort and not great if you’re looking for scenery!
We stayed at the Kauai Sands hotel in April 2003 during our 4-day visit to Kauai. We were able to book a "Deluxe" ocean view room using our Entertainment Coupon Book, for a mere $55/night! For the price, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms ...
Pros: Good value; good availability during peak seasons. Clean. Close to beach and shopping. Cons: Old and dated. Beach surf is rough...but that might be good for surfers.
We stayed here for one night because the place we wanted to go was still booked because of the Christmas holiday, so we had to hold over somewhere for one more night (we had just come from Oahu). Our expectations were low, but we saved a lot of money ...
70's Best Western preserved in time by catio1 ,Jul 03 '04
Pros: Clean, well run, affordable, location Cons: no frills, very few connecting rooms
We have stayed twice at the Kauai Sands Hotel. Ocean Front, Air conditioned(Which is rare on Kauai) Pool and centrally located. Those are the highlights of this hotel. It is a Motel property, a lot of old people. Looks like the old folks are with a the many tours that come through. The good part is that the tours are up and going early and gone for the day. You have the hotel to yourself. I feel funny about calling is a Hotel, it's really a motel. It reminds me of a 70's Best Western preserved in time, shag carpet, toilets sanitized for you protection, "Motel TV" etc. It is clean(Including the shag carpet, safe, well run and affordable. The motel is refreshing due to the fact that they don't promise every amenity in the world but deliver on what the do have. They do a good job. If you are looking for the Hyatt, this is not you hotel, but if you want a clean, comfy place to stay while you visit Kauai, this is a great choice. PS Rooms also have a small fridge for your use!
