Keens look better than they feel
by aweiner ,Sep 24 '08
Pros: A rugged, distinctivly styled shoe that comes in lots of fun colors. Cons: Shoe runs short and wide, and is too heavy.
I know I'm going against the grain when I say I don't like the Newport sandal by Keen, because it's hard to walk around in warm weather without seeing that distinctive black "bumper" on the feet of men, women and children everywhere.
I liked the styling enough to give the shoe a try, but I was dissapointed with both the fit and the comfort. I wear a women's size 10, and I have a somewhat narrow foot. I found the Newport in a size 10 to be too short and too wide.
I was told by the shoe salesman that Keens tend to run a half size small, which sounded about right given the fit, but since they don't make a 10.5, I was out of luck.
Finally, I will say that I found the shoe to be quite heavy and clunky, so even if they had made a size 10.5, I don't think I would have purchased it.

I LOVE MY KEENS!
by lemonheadap ,Oct 22 '08
Pros: Comfortable, waterwear, washable and easy-fit tension adjustment. Cons: Small rocks manage to shoot into the back of the shoe under my heel.
When I first looked at these hobbit-style shoes I thought "egads" those will be awful in a size 10. However, I quickly got over the duck foot aspect and embraced the comfort. I wear them SO many places and love the ability to adjust the tightness with the flip of a button. (he elastic cord that runs up and down the shoe is really strong and is what adjusts the straps to make a looser or tighter fit. Mine are of the nylon material and I have washed them twice to date in the washing machine. Each time they have looked good as new! However, they are not the MOST supportive for really long or uphill hikes.
