Pros: Separate & Easily Accessible Compartments, Quality Materials/Workmanship, Comfort, Versatility. Cons: Could use more external loops or a built in Camelback compartment.
I got this pack with SoCal two and three day trips in mind, and I have been very happy with it since my first trip. I started with some short packing trips into the Santa Monica Mountains with between 20 and 55 pounds on each trip of 6-10 miles. The pac ...

Pros: Price, big side pockets, ease of accessing gear, roominess Cons: Weight, fussy adjustment, comfort, lack of webbing for strapping rain gear to top, not water-resistant

Great value for the price

Pros: roomy, versatile, lots of pockets, zippered divider, great value Cons: quirky adjustments, no place for hydration bladder on older models
I've had this pack for years. Haven't had any problems with it. Getting the pack adjusted is a bit quirky. Pack has a detachable top that doubles as a fanny pack. The zipper of which can be accessed without taking the pack off. Inside is plenty of space and a fleece sunglasses pocket. Two side pockets are long enough to put my collapsible stool in. They are attached at each side allowing you to put poles through them (if that makes sense). Front pocket is actually 2 pockets - the larger pocket and the pocket on the very front, which actually goes all the way up (despite looking like it's just the part below the zipper). Main pocket is top load with two drawstring closures for expandability and compression. Also has many straps around the pack for cinching the pack tight. Sleeping bag compartment is roomy with buckle straps inside. It is connected to the main compartment via a zippered divider. Outside the pack has two elastic mesh pockets big enough for nalgene bottles. Also has cargo loops, straps and daisy chains in places.
