Pros: Great store-quality water with little effort. Cons: It's a bit pricey. A bit slow. Uses as much space as two coffee machines.
Nobody needs to worry about what's in their water, right? People demanding purified water instead of drinking tap water are just paranoid - you wonder where their Aluminum foil hats are and move about your day... right? I used to laugh and think - ...

Pros: A flat out healthier way of living period Cons: Takes up a big chunk of counter space.
I have owned 2 of these water purifiers. I am very interested in alternative health methods, and wanted to try the "purest" water. The first model I bought several years ago was just a bulky canister, with too many plugs involved, and a plastic ...

Pros: Low original cost of purifier Cons: Bad taste, fast build up with expensive cleaner which I would need to use daily.
Our first Kenmore purifier just quit working after about a month. The motor stopped. We exchanged it with no problem but the next 3 have had a funny taste like a chemical taste. I wouldn't mind a flat taste but I am sure there is something making it ...

Pros: cleaner than reverse osmosis; more reliable; no more filters Cons: slow; not as convenient.
We used an reverse osmosis (RO) system for years. Then the lines got contaminated. So we looked to replace the system. We considered distillation as an option. After much research, we concluded that distillation was better and more reliable than RO. ...

great when all the parts work
by crbmiller ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: great when all the parts work Cons: lid won't seal
I purchased a second distiller and received it yesterday. The lid will not seal. When the water heats up, the lid pops up. I put the lid from the first distiller on new pot, and it locked into place just fine. I am running it now to see if the seal holds. There is a little ball where the lid locks down into an indention for the ball to fit into. The old lid works, but the new lid will not lock down and stainless shows around the rim. I tried pressing it down to seal, but it will not lock into place and the lid will eventually raise up once the water heats up- very disappointing. They are the exact same model with what should be the exact lid, but the second lid does not work. Both pots work on both distillers with the first lid. What would keep the lid from working? I really use these distillers and think they are wonderful when all the parts work...

No More Fluoride and Chloroamines!
by nofluoride ,Nov 29 '06
Pros: Great ergonomics! Cons: Easy to spill water when emptying caraf too quickly.
This is a very well designed distiller. My only concern now is the durability of the rubber seal of the kettle, which
another reviewer complained about. His problem might be
caused by the presence of organic volatiles in his water.
Acetone is known to degrade rubber. If I were he, I would
have the drinking water he puts into the distiller tested for organics. I found out several weeks ago that there is
now 4 parts per million of fluoride added to water, not to
mention chloroamines and chlorine, plus God knows what from upstream. I am *really* glad I am not drinking those chemicals any more. I was prepared to buy a second unit
for more distilling capacity, but it's looking like one
distiller is sufficient. Again, this is a great distiller.

It sucks!
by kikai ,May 22 '06
Pros: Kenmore purifier is very good. Our old model lasted for 6 years. Cons: This model only last for 6months....and then the rubber on the gasket gets broken.
Thinking that it was going to be as durable as our old one, we bought this purifier a year ago. We had to return it because the rubber on the gasket broke. Sears took it back and replaced it. Six months later, the same problem happened. This time, Sears wont replace it saying that they have a new policy about returns. Which by the way, really sucks. It is really hard to find a replacement part for the kettle's gasket.

Enjoy pure water!
by tfs75 ,Dec 31 '05
Pros: Aside from the cost of electricity, there are no additional running costs. Cons: It occupies roughly the same counter space as a small microwave oven.
I have had my Kenmore Water Purifier for well over a year now, and am loving it. There are NO filters and no parts that need to be replaced. I run it three times a day and feel confident that I am drinking the purest and most healthful water possible.
I have both a whole-home filter and a filter on my kitchen sink. Yet, after each cycle, I find a think chalky layer of residue safely extracted from my drinking water.
To clean this unit, just pour in a few tablespoons of vinegar into BOTH the canister and the lid and let sit for a few minutes. Rinse, and you are ready to go. No more water passing through a filthy and expensive disposable filter.
I now use distilled water for coffee, tea, and cooking, as well. My appliances are lasting longer and everything tastes better.

Sears Water Distiller -- Still Working after 15 years.
by thanks2 ,Nov 29 '09
Pros: G O O D W A T E R ! ! ! Cons: Sears might not sell it anymore. Google "Water Distillers"
Sears Water Distiller -- Still Working after 15 years.
Need I say more ???
o No bad taste. o Boiling kills bad organisims. o Distillation leaves everything else in the tank. o Clean it with a paper towel after each use. o Use Distillery cleaner with it about ever 6 mo.
Wonderful pure, clear ... wonderful cold.
Your food will replace your minerals ... or take a vitamin/mineral supplement.
This device is good if you are buying bottled water and have been lugging it home by the jug. It also saves you from having to put all those jugs in some landfill. Distillation with the carbon filters... is the PUREST WATER. I have a gallon at a time model. But you can get them in various capacities.

Highly Reliable and a Great Product
by zenbuyer ,Dec 28 '08
Pros: Reliable Great taste Convenient Cons: Doesn't come with a carbon filter Somewhat pricey
I've waited 2 years to write this review since I bought this Kenmore water distiller on the recommendations of others on Epinions. I run one batch about every day or two and it has worked very well for the two years. The fan noise is acceptable to me and it really doesn't bother me.
My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a carbon filter and it took me a few weeks talking with Sears before we came to the conclusion that it wasn't missing from the original box. In the end, I decided not to buy one because it seemed too expensive and I decided I didn't need one.
I love the taste of the water, since I love the sweet flavour of distilled water. It's very simple to operate and I find it more convenient than buying the large water jugs from the grocery stores.
To save money, don't bother with buying the Kenmore cleaning fluid. I just use a jug of regular vinegar and fill the canister up to the fill line and let it sit over night. By the morning, all the hard water deposits will be dissolved.

Great Product, no real problems
by ledomira ,Apr 04 '06
Pros: Easy to use, not too loud, looks nice, works as advertised. Cons: Not so easy to clean, while not too loud, it's still not quiet.
I found out my fibromyalgia was due to fluoride. I knew I had to get a filter of some kind. After searching avidly for months, I learned that the only 100% sure way to get rid of fluoride, was to distill water. I tried to find distillers, but I kept reading bad reviews about them. If they weren't thousands of dollars out of my price range, they were cheap and prone to catch fire.
But, while asking at Sears one day, they happened to have this model I'd seen on-line. So, we bought it and have started making our own clean, fluoride free drinking water. Now we don't have to buy it at the store any more.
I was appalled at how much disgusting junk is in tap water. The smell afterward in the boiling chamber is foul, to say the least.

WHAT GRADE PLASTIC IS THE WATER JUG?
by sharon705 ,Apr 20 '08
Pros: Lots - great, cheap and easy to use - convenient like crazy! Cons: a timer would be nice but certainly not necessary
Love it - great and easy to use.
Only one question - does anyone know what type of plastic is used in the water jug? I am concerned that it contains Bisphenol A - a chemical that has been banned in Canada for the use in baby bottles and has been deemed "dangerous".
