Pros: Easy to keep clean, heats up fast. Cons: Could be much better designed and engineered.

Kenmore 30 in. 42739 Electric Cook top

Pros: Heats up fast. Cons: Control knobs get too to hot when using the highest temperature.
We purchased the Kenmore 30 in. Electric Cook top last month.
We noticed the knobs are getting very hot when the heating elements are on a high setting. In fact, they are getting too hot for touching with the fingers.

Where's the Steel?

Pros: Faster heating according to Consumer Reports Cons: Minimum stainless steel
I purchased model 42733 which is described as "Stainless Steel with black." I had to special order it. It was $50 more than the other models, but I wanted to continue with the stainless look of my other appliances. Well, it only has a one inch strip of chrome at the FRONT of the cooktop only. You would think that for the extra cost, the trim would be all the way around, even if it had to be narrower.
However, since this series was rated a Consumer Reports "Best Buy," I suppose its operation is the most important thing.
