If you want Top-Dollar Sound on a Bottom-Dollar Budget...

by thomasmarc , Jan 27 '03
Pros: Amazing Features for the Price/Great Sound
Cons: No S-Video Inputs
If you're thinking about getting a surround sound system, and like me you don't make the $$$ to buy a high end receiver and high end speakers, then stop looking and go go buy this system now!!! I shopped around everywhere and did a lot of research and...

A Great Value in Home Theater

by alg91 , Jul 08 '02
Pros: Price, sound quality, power
Cons: passive subwoofer, receiver size, remote control
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, powerful, feature packed Home Theater system, consider the Kenwood HTB-205. For under $300, this system delivers the features and performance of many systems twice as expensive.

The HTB-205 comes...

How did they get it so cheap??

by dstln , Dec 06 '02
Pros: Extremely cheap for the performance. Great sound.
Cons: Speaker design.
Over the past summer, I was looking for a new stereo to blast in my dorm room. I went to Best Buy for a look. After trying all of the stereos out (all of them without a dvd player since I already have one), I found this Kenwood to be amazing. It had...

Best Value

by erick7302 , Jan 01 '03
Pros: Power, flexibility, and value.
Cons: Speaker quality, ease-of-use, short wiring.
The Kenwood HTB-205 home theater system is most definitely one of the best values available. As with any sound system that costs less than $1,000, it has its problems… but you get quite a bit for the price. I have it connected to everything I own, ...

This is worth looking at

by simmerin , Mar 14 '03
Pros: exceptional value for 250
Cons: subwoofer pops if too loud in digital mode
OK, here's the deal on this unit. I purchased mine at Best Buy for $249 which included a $25 BBC gift card. So I basically paid $225 plus tax. The next system up as far as I can tell is about $400. So if you're looking for something decent on the low...

Kenwood HTB-205 - Nice System

by rwills , Jan 05 '03
Pros: Alot of bang for the buck
Cons: Somewhat difficult to operate for a novice.
This is my very first Home Theater System and I must say I am very happy with it. I read reviews here and other places. I looked at different systems in this price range and decided to go with the Kenwood. I'm glad I did. As I said this is my first...

One of the best for this price
by shaka_shabam ,Nov 29 '03
Pros: Very nice sound; two s-video inputs; optical, coaxial audio inputs
Cons: Sub, though good, is not powered (it's passive); no component inputs/splitters
I bought my Kenwood HTB 205 after checking out quite a few systems, many more expensive. I was impressed by the quality of the sound coming from those little speakers, so much that I kept coming back around to them and the system.

Kenwood offers nice, deep and rich sound for a low price with this system. IMO it beats out most of the others that cost around the same. Even with the passive sub, which is actually pretty loud and clear, considering.

It's got enough features to make the semi-audiophile happy while keeping things simple enough for grandpa to use. Plus I've moved twice and the unit has held up. I've seen other electronic devices go belly up from the little (and not-so-little) knocks they take from moving, but the Kenwood's been good.

I recommend it for users looking for good sound for less, up to a medium-sized room. Solid choice.

Not what I expected
by bodean713 ,Apr 14 '05
Pros: nice price
Cons: no powered subwoofer souround speakers are too small
I bought this system thinking it would sound good in my 16x20 living room. I should have done some more research first. The speakers that came with it did not have the sound effects that I wanted. I ended up buying a another set of larger Kenwood speakers off of ebay would solved taht problem with the souround speakers. The other problem was the subwoofer. It was really bad. Probally because it was a passive speaker. I had to buy a Powered speaker. It is a 50watt but does a pretty good job a 100 watt would be better. The bad part about a powerd subwoofer with this receiver is that it does not provide for a powered speaker and you have to tie it into your front speakers which may cut down on your power to your fronts and the subwoofer.
