Pros: Beautiful OEL display, TONS of setup options, audiophile sound quality, ipod/XM/Serius/aux inputs, 5v preouts
Cons: Manual is not helpful, no front station preset buttons, all options are burried in menus

Summary: Happy Anniversary! Kenwood's new 25th Anniversary CD/MP3 head unit is a marvel of sight and sound. Cosmetics: The first thing you'll notice when pulling this receiver out of the package is that it's one stunning piece of hardware. The front bezel ... read more

Pros: Beautiful Sound, Excellent build quality, Extremely bright display, Highly adaptable.
Cons: full length animations, which look great, are short

Summary: I recently replaced my eclipse head unit with the Kenwood xxv-01d and I have not regretted my decision. Installation was typical for a head unit. Setup is as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. The unit sounds fantastic with all of the default ... read more

Cons: Media Manager software could be difficult to get working, otherwise none.

Summary: For many years I was (and mostly still am) a die-hard Alpine fan and I wrestled with purchasing this Kenwood unit for about a month before I purchased it. I went to a local Kenwood / Alpine dealer to check out the Kenwood XXV-01D and Alpine CDA-9855 ... read more

Pros: sound quality somewhat tasteful appearance Good value for the money
Cons: ergonomics suck could use more crossover control could use a bit more tasteful appearance

Summary: Like the previous reviewer, I was wrestling with the Kenwood vs. Alpine saga also. In my case, I was searching for an Alpine CDA-9835... last year's version of the 9855. It was the same head unit without the silly glide touch, nor the terrible ... read more
