  • Movie & Title character don't kick booty, but 11-year-old Hit-Girl does with blood & guts.

Pros: Not boring.  Some good moments.
Cons: Bad screenplay, confusing style and very violent.

Summary: Kick A*(s  is the movie version of a subversive graphic comic that's generated a lot of deserved controversy when released earlier this year primarily because it depicts an 11 year old girl (Hit Girl) sadistically killing people to please her ... read more

    Aug 5, 2010
Pros: Gleeful Violence, Funny Jokes, Hit-Girl (along with the other amazing characters), Intelligent Writing
Cons: Too Violent For Many, Will Not Appeal To All Tastes, Some May Find Offensive.

Summary: Introduction: For those of you who do not know, Kick-A$$ is based on a comic-book (of the same name) by Mark Millar. It starts of as a typical, lighthearted high-school comedy following the typical formula. The classic, socially awkward nerd is ... read more

    Jun 21, 2010
Pros: Upbeat, Very Entertaining and Funny
Cons: Loses Most of the Comic's Key Points and Spirit.

Summary: Let's get one thing out of the way; there is no way Hollywood can ever match the awesomeness that is Mark Millar's and John Romita Jr.'s comic book mini series that is KICK A$$. The comic series was just a different the way it was successful in mixing ... read more

  • Kick @$$

Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    May 29, 2010
Pros: Something new. Fun, comedy, action, story, nice flow
Cons: Nothing much, feels like a parody sometimes.

Summary: One word about the movie, Superb. The story is about a teenager, Dave enacted by Aaron Johnson, to become a super hero. In the first half of the movie, some might feel that it’s kind of parody to other super hero flicks, but it’s not. ... read more

    May 7, 2010
Pros: The story was excellent and the Hit-Girl character was a hit.
Cons: The theme was a little disturbing in spots.

Summary: I saw a kick-@ss movie and it was called Kick @ss.. This movie is a love it or hate it type. Before I go any further, you need to know that in spite of this being about teenaged super heroes, this is definitely not a movie for the kids. The ... read more

  • Suprisingly good.

    Apr 29, 2010
    Pros: -Full of action
    -Great acting
    -Excellent story line
    -A lot of comedic relief
    -Great for both genders
Cons: It seemed to run kind of long (2 hours), and dragged at the end.

Summary: I truly wasn't expecting the movie to be as good as it was. I went with my boyfriend (well, dragged would probably be more like it) and I thought it would be a typical not at all funny "comedy" (who would really expect a serious movie about non ... read more

    Apr 29, 2010
Pros: Good action, good dialogue, fun movie.
Cons: Kick-a$$ could have been more memorable.

Summary: After seeing Wanted and being upset that they changed pretty much everything in Millars book, I was both excited and scared when I heard news that his new story Kick-A$$ which wasn't even finished yet, had gotten optioned for the big screen.  ... read more

Pros: Fun movie. Christopher Mintz (Red Mist) really brought it home for me.
Cons: Abrubtly turned serious. Predictable love story.

Summary:  KICK A$$ is a very ENTERTAINING movie. It wasn't as hilarious as advertised but I did enjoy it. It kept me wondering and guessing what was going to happen next because it's pretty hard to predict when a movie like this has never been made before. ... read more

  • Keeping it Real

    Apr 26, 2010
Pros: Interesting perspective, strong characters (especially Hit Girl), excellent action sequences, great overall feel.
Cons: Love story a bit lame.

Summary: I view graphic novels as the "independent film" of comic books.  They are allowed to be edgy and different.  Kick-A$$ is no different.  It is a film that doesn't require special super powers to include all the classic elements of ... read more

Pros: Hilarious, thrilling, and magnificently entertaining.
Cons: Very predictable, and may be too inappropriate for some younger children

Summary: I just returned from the theater and I must say that I was VERY impressed. From watching the previews of kick-@$$ I thought this was going to be another dumb and cheesy movie with a plethora of slapstick comedy and non-original jokes. To my surprise, ... read more

Pros: This is an enjoyable movie with some surprises and laughs. The fight scenes are good.
Cons: Not enough fight scenes. The protagonist doesn't evolve. Never hones his skills.

Summary: Finally, a superhero movie where the character's identity isn't revealed! Wait... Only three people this time. But at least the villains didn't find out -- even when they had every opportunity.I had to drag my wife with me to see ... read more

Pros: Constantly hilarious, incredibly violent but with heart, near perfect mix of action/comedy
Cons: ...Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this

Summary: Ever since I saw the first trailers to Kick-A ss, I knew it was a movie I wanted to see in theatres. Some trailers just have that effect on you, and while this does lead to huge disappointments sometimes, this time was not one of those times. In fact, it ... read more

    Apr 16, 2010
Pros: Funny, plenty o' action, good acting, surprisingly effective story
Cons: Humor at the wrong moments kills the emotion, hard to take seriously

Summary: KickAss is based on a recent comic from Marvel by the same name, which was first published only 2 years ago under their Icon brand. Thankfully, the screenplay is sharp enough to demand zero prior knowledge. Though I haven't read an issue, I'm ... read more

  • “Kick-A$$” Sucks A$$

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community

Pros: It’s slickly and professionally made and usually very entertaining.
Cons: Nothing more than blood, explosions, and annoying jokes, with not a single likeable character.

Summary: “Kick-A$$” is a genre-bending movie from the same writer who brought us “Wanted.” It could have been a very smart action/superhero film, but settled for being an above-average action/superhero film. Aaron Johnson plays ... read more

Pros: Everything! Hilarious dialogue, slick, brutal action, great acting and relentless pacing.
Cons: Endless profanity and bloodshed isn't for everyone, especially when it's caused by an 11-year-old girl.

Summary: (Thanks to Epinions censoring system I can't actually use the title of the movie in this review body, so enjoy my review of "Kick" for now)"The greatest superhero book of all time is finally here!" proclaims the cover of Mark Millar's Kick ... read more
