Pros: Scotland in 1751: geography, politics, lowlanders, highlanders, English redcoats. Good and evil in everyman. Cons: Unfamiliar phrases in lowland Scots language. No maps. A 17-year old as master psychologist.

Pros: boys might like it better Cons: found it to be a hard read and not very interesting

Pros: Great adventure story, interesting history Cons: Can be a bit hard going due to the language used
