This reader reads the following types of cards: Compact Flash I and II, MicroDrive, SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, microSD, MicroSDHC, MMC, MMC plus, RS-MMC, MMCmobile, MMCmicro, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Micro, Memory Stick Pro Duo, and Memory Stick Duo.

Unfortunately, no XD. I tried it with a 4 gb SDHC card and it seems to work well.

It has a nice design feature which allows you to slide the part with the card slots into or out of the outer sleeve. When you slide it back into the sleeve it helps to protect the cards when they are in the reader. It goes in about 1".
