Pros: Sturdy, durable handles. Looks great. Cons: Poorly machined basket. Inferior design.
I'm a side sleeper. Generally, my right hand is up under my pillow, and my left one is on the pillow, right in front of my face. I'm acutely aware of that hand-- so much so that I'm desperately trying to adopt a new sleep position. I cook with a lot ...

Pros: Innovative design, heavy-duty construction, easy to clean, retro design Cons: Still requires good old fashioned manual labor - but not much!
it's the garlic! I've got it in everything now! Can a person really get too much crushed garlic, now I ask you??
Pathetic Background: I THOUGHT I had a garlic press, but alas, I didn't even know the meaning of "press". I...

Worth the search!
by foodfiend ,Jan 15 '07
Pros: Nice, heavy feel; garlic pulp is almost totally extracted from the skin; easy to clean Cons: A separate cleaning tool/ brush which I will most certainly lose at some point
I have been looking for a couple of years for a garlic press that was sturdy. Every one I have bought seemed to feel as though the handles were flexing when I pressed the garlic clove, or they were impossible to clean, and none (in my opinion) extracted enough garlic pulp. Then I bought the KA. I really would have bought it sooner, but I kept trying the less expensive products. Silly me.

Broken after about a year
by mattphil ,Jan 27 '07
Pros: Feels sturdy initially, cleaning brush is nice Cons: Plastic handle will eventually break off the metal press
I guess I press a lot of garlic, because I end up needing to buy a replacement garlic press every couple of years. I bought this one, thinking that it could stand the test of time better than my former presses. I think it did reasonably well, but after about ten months I noticed that the handle (the black part) was bending a little more than the metal part. At this point I tried to put all the pressure on the part of the handle before it turns into the plastic, but it is very difficult to press garlic that way because the lack of lever action. So, finally a couple of weeks ago the black handle broke off. Now, of course, it is nearly impossible to use.
I think I owned this for over a year, (12-18 months), so it is no longer covered by the warranty (plus I'm sure I don't have the receipt). So, it looks like I am going to have to buy yet another garlic press. If the metal part were one or two inches longer I'm sure it would last for many years. Better yet would be a pure metal one.
