I bought this microwave to finish our kitchen upgrade.  We had put a Viking gas stove, Bosch stainless dishwasher, Kitchenaid stainless side by side fridge and a La Spaziale espresso machine into our new kitchen.  We had replaced all kitchen ...

Pros: While it worked - it worked well.
Cons: The unit is not durable. Kitchenaid/Whirlpool service has been awful.

We purchased this Kitchenaid Microwave as part of a complete kitchen renovation. The unit started malfunctioning after a year and 3 months in December '07. We initially called Kitchenaid customer service (customer experience center) in late December they referred us to A&E. A&E came out, diagnosed the problem, and ordered two parts - scheduled to arrive on 1/8 they called on 1/8 to say that the parts were backordered.

We called Kitchenaid on the 8th to expedite. After 5 calls to Kitchenaid (1/8, 1/29, 2/1, 2/4 and 2/6) we still don't have the one needed part despite being told - that they "have been overnighted to us" on each occasion. Kitchenaid now has a "parts specialist" working on it - A&E says that panel shows as backordered to 3/28 in their system!

Regardless of what happens - I'm replacing this unit with a GE Monogram.

YOU SAVE A LITTLE MONEY BUYING MADE-IN-CHINA, BUT YOU PAY FOR IT IN IN HEADACHES, SERVICING AND EXPECTED LIFE. WE WILL NEVER BUY KITCHEN-AID AGAIN.

Cons: Two broken parts right out of the box that I have to pay to fix.

This product was defective right out of the box.  Broken door and turntable and they want a fortune to fix it.

 My experience with Kitchenaid customer service has been the worst in my life.  All manufacturers have some dissatisfied customers, but compare the complaints against Samsung and LG. Kitchenaid has about 100 times more.

When you pay this much and buy from Kitchenaid, you think you're receiving a better product.  You are not!!
